Has a fee been mentioned for Bogarde?

Covers a few positions so may cost a fair whack to find replacements.

Well, I think his primary position is defensive midfielder, and he’s had a big opportunity this year to step up, which he hasn’t really taken.

It could be that Emery feels with Kamara, Onana, and now Lindelof there, Bogarde isn’t really going to feature much.

With Royal coming in as right back cover, it’s hard to see him getting many minutes next season.

Timing might be right to move Bogarde on, as you say he got chances in a couple of positions and didn't really take them. Just feels if it's Bogarde out and Royal in then it's not just footballing reasons driving these transfers again. The regulations should be incentivising us keeping Bogarde rather than pushing him out.

Hemmings seemed miles off it physically on his few cameos last season. Big summer in the gym required but suspect a loan to the championship awaits.

Id rather keep Bogarde unless the offer is a really high one. He's a good player, can cover multiple positions, helps in the Euro squad size thing, and seems to be a good lad to boot.

Not every player we have in the books has to be a world beater.

Reports from Italy suggesting we are interested in centre-back Lloyd Kelly, formerly of Bournemouth and currently of Juventus;

Juventus apparently value him at twice the price they paid for him 12 months ago...  :-X

According to this lot, our move for Dion Lopy is apparently a 'done deal' for 15m EUR + addons;

He's a 24yo DM, which if true, might also go to explain the Bogarde rumours.

It’s plainly obvious Royal is a squad player to replace Garcia. What’s the issue?

The issue I'd have is that I'd prefer to spend money on younger players who can initially compete with, and eventually replace the older bodies.

Rather than spending money on players just to pad out the squad.

We’ve just done that twice and neither came off.

That not a reason why we should now move to signing older, not-very-good players instead of younger, better players is it?

Guess it depends if Unai thinks he is decent or not I suppose - I’d prefer a younger, quick player there but not another who hardly ever gets on the pitch.

On-loan with a fat fee?

I know his age profile isn't great but imagine him in on the wing instead of some of the duds we usually have to put up with there (not Meatball, obvs).

Bowen is a decent and proven premier League player who has played for England and really well for an albeit poor Premier League club. He’s a very good player and I’m sure would work very hard for our manager. If Unai want him, I’m all for it.

On Bowen

good character
Isn’t injury prone
Mach winner
Proven
100% effort
Team player
Causes trouble in the opposition box

It’s a yes from me

age profile and high costs are the only negatives

Bowen would be bloody brilliant for the next few years. Dependable, productive, versatile and has both assists and goals to his name. and if he’s been this good so far, imagine what he can be with better coaching. Seems similar to Malen, though so not quite sure why …unless it’s also a mentality thing
