Chelsea really flipping their transfer strat on it's head. In for Welbeck according to Ornstein.

All over BBC now, it’s just baffling.  They value Jackson at £60m who is on their books and want to replace him with 35 year old Welbeck whose value is now pretty negligible?!? I don’t understand it
It seems a bit like spin the wheel and let’s hope we get lucky.

Maybe but let's be honest, we're jealous as fcuk.

Well I would be if I could understand it.  If we sold Watkins for 50m and replaced him with Welbeck as a Chelsea fan would I be jealous?

Jealous? I hope not.

I’m curious how they manage it given we have similar sized stadiums. They’re better at the multi club model than us, and sell from the academy really well.

On the flip side they have a £1bn debt that needs to be paid soon (2032?) and no stadium to show for the money invested.

Therefore I’d take villa’s position overall given the choice.

Not jeal of Danny in particular but their largesse in buying next season's title.

I’m old enough to remember when Chelsea were seen as being a similar sized club to QPR, and the notion of them being in any big five or big six would have been laughable. Stamford Bridge was a shithole with a dog track and Reliant Robins parked next to the pitch.

They did well to speculate to accumulate at the right time, by chucking a big contract at Gullit and a few other foreign stars, which in turn attracted Ambramovich to throw his dirty oligarch billions into the club. And the rest is history.

None of this is anything to be jealous of. Apart from all the trophies of course.

Indeed.
Big club my arse. Check out those 1980s highlights and see the stadium as you describe, look at their history during and prior to that. They are a rich club, not a big club and an example and big reason why English football has gone to shit over the past 25 years.
The only good thing is that they were a fly in the ointment to those Manc bastards for a while.

but most importantly him not playing him much in that team is not, in any way, a sign that he wouldn't be interested in him now, which was the clear implication and is utter nonsense.

It's like saying Nigel Pearson thinks Harry Kane is shit because he only gave him 5 starts in a half season loan at Leicester when he was a teenager.
[/quo
The implication was that it could well be lazy journalism. In the clickbait world we live in I imagine it happens a lot where journos put two and two together to back up their made story.

It is also me being optimistic that it’s bull shit because I’ve watched Jackson play maybe 20 times and never once thought he looked a top quality PL player. Whereas everything I’ve seen from Madjo (albeit a very small sample) looks like he has huge potential. So maybe not better yet, but we have 1 proven PL goal scorer, a very able understudy and very promising youngster, so why we’d be looking at spending that much on Jackson I can’t understand. Maybe if Ollie goes, but if that’s the case we are by no means replacing PROVEN PL goal scorer like for like.

Btw, I also watched Kane play half an hour for Leicester once and thought he looked a baller 😉

On loan I assume or with very favourable buy back terms. I’d be okay with that except they’ve not really looked after any of our other youngsters

I wouldn't give them Haemorrhoids. Tantrum wankers who will drop him for a clogger at the first sign of trouble.
