Absolutely and they made two offers this year shows how highly they rate him. The lad does want to play in the PL just not for Bournemouth. He could stay at Stuttgart and play in the CL or he could join us and do both.

Getting ones like Platt, Yorke, Rogers and Benteke. It’s not a great hit-rate.

Manzambi was valued at €9m last summer. I suppose we’d prefer to get in at that level.

Yes, I get that, I get that not all signings work, and I am not saying we shouldn't be signing young players, of course not.

It is when we sign them, send them out on loan, and then just flog them afterwards, not giving them a chance with us.

It is hard to look at Oczan, Nedjelkovic, Barrenechea, Mosquera etc and see what the thought process was there. Sign them, then sell them for what we paid for them shortly after.

Oczan, for example - signed Feb 25, left at his team for rest of season. Sent to Anderlecht on loan, recalled three months later, sent to Besitkas for the rest of the season with an obligation to buy.

No idea if other teams do it. Where’s that kid who we thought we were getting before Man City came in for him? How will the kid they’ve just paid ten million for get on?

Ned had a few chances I think (I could be wrong) and he looked okay to me. Barrenechea was just a makeweight, a desperate move to get rid of Dougie to avoid a points deduction on the last day of the financial year. Worked out okay because we got slightly more cash than what he was valued at in that deal. SIJ, I suspect, won’t fetch that much.

If you buy a player and sell him for the same price that's a plus for FFP because of how amortisation works. Obviously, if you buy a young player for a relatively low price then sell him on for an absolute fortune, like Durán and Rogers, that's clearly a massive benefit.

I think the other difference is the level. Ozcan I don’t really understand, everything pointed to him being a decent pickup and should be pushing Mings to be in the first team now, but didn’t really play out on loan. The others look more of a punt for sure, but even Nedelkovic looked decent enough to get some game time.

Chelsea fish in a different teen pool, and then loan very very well through their club network and expose the players, then charge double/ triple for them. It is an exceptionally profitable strategy.

Very good player but we're gonna get quoted silly prices by clubs now especially in England after Rogers' sale.

Parts of the Chelsea model works really well, its when buying first teamers that they're wayward.  With the V-Sports network we could copy it.

I'm ignoring whether it is in the spirit of the game to do so.

I heard on some podcast or something that they’ve made £300m in sales two seasons running.
