Garcia gone to Getafe.

Another pointless waste of money.

Yup - too many of those.

At least Garcia was a cheap gamble.

Yes, if only every signing was like McGinn, Rogers, Tielemans, Duran, Konsa, Luiz, Kamara, Benteke, Platt, Yorke & God. It’s really not good enough.

Didn't we pay £6m for him? That's still quite a lot for a gamble.

He had lots of injuries and it didn't work out. Shit happens.

I'd love Guessand to come back and make an impression because I think his biggest problems are in his head. If he develops the confidence that he deserves to be at a champions league club I think he has enough about him to be useful.
Me too. Unlikely as it is, it would be a great story.

Evann, a proper footballing enigma. Can't recall a player look so off the pace yet enjoy so much faith from serious coaches (Emery, Glasner, CI).

Was it £6m for him, £6m for Ned, £7m for Ozcan? These start to add up.

Trossard gone to Besiktas for only £17m. He's 31, but I think he's a good player - I feel he could've been a decent signing?

I couldn’t look at him every week.
Puts the Tielemans fee into perspective, perhaps.

Vinnie said he has a release clause if a CL team come in. Wharton would be amaze.

No, he said that there is a 'gentleman's agreement' that he can talk to Champions League clubs, not an actual clause.

I’ve not seen any links to Wharton but if that’s ever a possibility it would be fantastic he’s as good as Anderson

We all accept some don’t work out. Some do, such as the ones you’ve mentioned (over a period of almost forty years).

There is definitely a discussion to be had over some of our weird transfers the last few years, though.

We’ve achieved great things largely using players who have been here a long time. If we are now going to be replacing a lot of them, we need to up our success ratio, we can’t lose momentum, and we are going to be bringing new faces in to replace key players, not just third choice full backs.

Marginal gains are going to be crucial for us. Hopefully with the changeover from Monchi we’ll see better returns from our money.

That’s true but most of them we’ve got our money back on (or likely will do soon). I think they’re fine as punts on the 1/10 chance that you get a Duran or a Rogers. If we had more financial wiggle room we’d be doing it but at £15-20m a pop which is exactly what Brighton do as it increases the chance of success significantly.
