Shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

Was highly rated when we signed him. And will have had an increase or two since then.

Prob as part of the condition for going out on loan previously.

I’m sure that’s right. I presume lots of Championship clubs were after him at that point, and the bigger ones were probably willing to pay him good money. We wanted to retain control, hence £35k a week. I think yesterday’s silly/hysterical reactions to it some quarters have been tempered somewhat now people have had time to consider.

It is to me, albeit a highly rated, young player on £35k a week who apart from that goal against Chelsea has done nothing with us. Fair play to him if scoring goals on loan at 1st and 2nd division teams gets you that amount of money.

So he’s been on £35k and title winning Emi Martinez is ‘only’ on £150k according to posts in his thread?!

NEW: Aston Villa scouted Al Qadsiah forward Julián Quiñones (29) throughout the World Cup & closely observed him — they are convinced by his performances, & took information from his entourage. No official offer yet, but contacts have recently intensified. @sachatavolieri

If he has an entourage, then it's a no from me.

On Barry, how much would we likely have received in loan fees and would his full wages have been paid by the lower level clubs clubs while he was on loan? What has been the net cost of owning him for a few years for no return?
