The cynic in me is assuming Onana has picked up another knock.

Maybe that interview he did pissed Unai off?

I don’t love that Onana isn’t playing. They are a physical side. Hopefully Ollie is only out for this one.

It shows how much he trusts Bogarde. Onana just came back from an injury. He played midweek and given the extent of our midfield injuries we need to be able to rotate the line up. He’s on the bench if we need him. Hopefully this week Barkley also comes back into contention. Still feels a little light in the middle until SJM and Tielemans come back.

Afternoon everyone.

Like a few said , Onana shouldnt have played Thursday as he was at slow mode in that game and trying not to get stuck in , so suprised he didnt play in this one and not that .

I would have thrown JJ on the bench too .

The team should be good enough to get 3 pts .

Come on Villa . . .

Looking forward to the return of Tammy and Doug, surprised Collins is on the bench, he's being one of their best players this season.

Our midfield four are very light. Maybe Emery not impressed with Onana during the week but Bogarde struggled v Everton and a similar test today. Not as confident now. I'd have gone for Bailey on right but that's a marginal enough call.

Our bench is so sick.

Hopefully nothing serious.

Based on recent evidence, the plague maybe.

Not sure we can use other team’s players.

No gradually easing the new (old) signings in, I see.

Not a lot of choice really.

Maybe that interview he did pissed Unai off?

I think it might be this. You'd start him against Brentford over Salzburg.

I also reckon Emery might be savvy enough to sell him in the summer. Can't have that kind of attitude in the dressing room. It'll turn other heads.

Happy with this selection. Looks balanced.

Onana is hit and miss and never great when we dominate possession which we will hopefully do today.

I might have picked Bailey for Sancho as Tammy needs service.

We’ve got an alternative today though, we didn’t on Thursday.

True. I'd have just played Bogarde and Hemmings (and we'd have probably lost), but I worship at the alter of Unai, so that was his decision and everything is fine.
