That was much harder than it should have been, apart from Ollie's effort, can't remember us really testing their goalie second half, but an important 3 points. Instead of Ollie I would play The Don upfront on Sunday.

Agree mate.

I’m shocked.

You must agree though surely. Can't keep starting Watkins when Malen is playing like this.

Yeah I don’t mind Don starting against Wolves. But against good opposition I think his hold up play needs work or he needs to play off a main striker.

Sancho was alright imo, far better than Guessand.
Both were awful.

Did anyone stay much past the end? I left more or less bang on final whistle as didn’t want to keep my lift waiting but it seemed like the YB players didn't go over to clap their twatty fans. Fair play, if so.

Our bench was like a second starting 11 tonight, probably as strong if not stronger than the 11 on the pitch.

He’ll start on Sunday even if to just wear the ‘heads down and Malen to finish them off. I just hope he finds a way to score.

Blimey, it’s been a few years since I’ve witnessed crowd trouble like that. Has Malen got some sort of history versus Young Boys? He certainly made a point of going over to them.

Complacency is what we served up tonight. We are much better than them, we knew it, they knew it and our better players decided a half arsed performance would suffice. They were right. Even so, Morgan Rogers, work on your passing, the assist for Malen’s 2nd apart was awful. Sancho, tried but was wasteful when it mattered. Guessand, the Afcon can’t come quick enough. He’s just not very good, he’s not even good, average or has potential. There is nothing there I see, that says , he could be great with a bit of coaching. Nah.

Malen MOM. I’m starting to feel sorry for Watkins, he’s in a bad place at the moment. Malen is our main man now for me. It’s up to Ollie to convince us otherwise.

Probably the worst trouble in Villa Park for over 30 years - if not longer. Seats on the pitch, players bottled, coppers fighting fans… what will their punishment be?

Purring first half and early second. Some of the best football we've played this season.

Wonder if Moussa D is bored enough playing part time football and fancies plugging a gap for us. He plays tonight and we bag 3-4 goals in that opening period and put the game to bed.

Doesn't have to be him, ofc.

But ideally -as a team with aspirations to win this comp and do well domestically- we might want some sort of attacking threat out wide on at least one flank. Not too much to ask is it.

The Guessman and Sancho aren't going to provide that, as they've illustrated time again. Close to the midway point of the season now. Excuses are running out for the pair of them.

Good win even if it should have been more comfortable than it was. Went sloppy once all the subs came on. Malen looking very sharp. He'll start on Sunday.

They did go over to their fans after the game, it took a while to get out of the North Stand.

It took even longer to get in, we missed the first 15 after spending 2 hours to get there from Worcester, and when we got there late the brains trust decided to only have 1 turnstile open for late comers, I hope we never have a 5.45pm home game again.

Thought we largely played well but obviously you have to take into consideration the opposition. Malen helps speed our game up because of his pace. He deserves to start against Wolves to see what he can do in the premier league although the quality level between tonight’s opposition and Wolves is probably negligible.

Should have scored a lot more goals, but we have been twatting them in from all over the place lately so can't complain too much.

Got the win, relatively comfortably, edging ever closer to the last sixteen. A few players got a bit of a rest. Nobody got injured.

That'll do.

Strange one really.  Were completely in control for most of the game and really should have scored a few more, but ended up getting a warning shot with their disallowed goal and then conceded a goal which made things a bit tighter than they should have been (though didn't really think they threatened again).

The behaviour of their fans just added to the strange feeling of the game.
