Yes but...he's on his way to 30 and our team is quite old already so do we want more older players?

That’d be my concern. High wages, older is not really in line with where we’re looking. I suppose if we’re getting rid of a few older players it could make sense, but hard to tell without knowing wider strategy.

There will be a big clear out in the summer, I don't think any off the loan players will be here and about six others can join them. It's a worry that none of the reserves are pushing through.

We've got to have a big clear out this summer. Buendia starting every week says everything about where we are right now. Recruitment has been laughable for 3 windows, living off Rogers. I'd say our front line, after Rogers, is bottom 3-5 in the league. No pace, very little guile and not a lot of physicality.

Midfield we're ok but woefully injury prone.

Konsa is stagnant and we should think about cashing in. Cash needs a proper backup. Huge summer. Olabe needs to be good.

Yesterday was our oldest average aged starting line up since 2012.  Wholesale changes are needed this summer.

Problem is we look a yard off it pace wise all over the pitch, Cunha is everything out wide and drifting to ten that Rogers can be, but he's got Bruno, Mbuemo, Sesko and Amad around him. We've got Buendia whining at everything that moves and pretending to be injured, Bailey who's won a competition to play, Watkins who can't even run with a ball anymore and Sancho who looks decent but produces nothing and is slower than Gareth Barry. Our forward options are genuinely pathetic, and the one guy who had pace and could shoot, we fucked off to Roma.

If you look at it somewhat logically. Sancho & Elliot gone for starters - end of disastrous loans. None of our loan players are coming back. 12 months left on deals for Barkley, Buendia, Mings, Bailey, Lindelof & Bizot. Decision time on the first four and it's time to say goodbye. Buendia should generate plenty of interest based on his form in the first half of the season. Mings will nab a 2 year deal elsewhere. Other two are done.

Rogers form falling off a cliff and doubts now over whether we will even get CL football next season - how that goes down the stretch will decide what we can invest in.

The likes of Martinez, Digne and Watkins have their best days behind them but not easy sells. Onana and Torres haven't kicked on like Emery planned but again not easy to move on.

I'm still clinging to a hope that Emery and the group turn it around and deliver CL football via the league and win the Europa. Would be a great send off for this team. It's the end of the cycle though not the start of a new one.

Pretty sure we’ll start next season with a new first choice keeper as Emi1 will look for pastures new.
Digne and Ollie stand a good chance of being moved on, and I would look to move on Emi2, Bailey too. My guess would be that those would generate in the region of £100m
With Sancho and Elliott, more than likely, going that’s a minimum of 7 to come in.
I think Luiz will stay and I’d like to see Trafford come in.

It sounds easy enough when you say it like that, but getting clubs to bite is going to be a problem. Everyone and their mother will know that we need/want to move players on and will take full advantage of that.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if we see a Konsa or Rogers type sale get pushed through pretty early just to allow us to negotiate other sales from a position of relative strength as the window progresses.

Think those "types" of sale might be difficult to do early because of the World Cup being in the way.

Depends entirely on how good of a world cup those players have. If Rogers is scoring and assisting for fun, we'll likely have a buyer lined up before the tournaments even over.

I'd love to see a breakdown of the £100m you anticipate us receiving for those players. We'd be lucky to get £25m for the lot, in my arrogant opinion.

Not really. The World Cup lasts from June 11th to July 19th, with the squads meeting up from the end of May.

So regardless of how well the World Cup is going, any transfer wouldn't happen until the end of July, at which point it's not early anymore.

Let me have something Dave, it's been a long day and I can't get the image of another Bailey blunder out my head...

Maybe Jamaica don't qualify, Bailey becomes our £60m sale in June, and we spend the following month getting deals in place for World Cup stars like we're at a Woolworth's pick n' mix counter.

Easy, this football transfer lark.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if a buyer had already been lined up.
