He was too busy shoving one of their players, if he'd ignored him and watched the ball he'd easily have punched it clear.

Spot on!

Watch again and see what happens to Konsa, he was completely impeded by a Burnley player, it's no wonder he was furious. One holds him back whilst the other goes in front of him for the free header. Rugby league tactics.

and the one before their guy was all over Emi. The ref was a bit weak on the physical stuff in general, Foster didn't make a legal attempt to win the ball in the entire match. It says a lot that they conceded 15 fouls and only got 1 booking early in the first half, we got 3 including 2 for fouls that weren't as bad as ones they made shortly after and 1 for Emi pointing out that maybe if someone is lying on the floor from a elbow to the face it should've been at least a free kick.

I don't understand the refs when a player can turn his back on the ball at corners and face his apponent usually with his arms outspread. The FA has allowed this to go on for years without penalty, it is anti-football.

when SJM went off so did we.
Not sure who is captain when he is subbed, Konsa ?
But the team needed a rallying call before they pulled one back and it was not happening.

We just got really sloppy for their goal. Cash has to deal with that first ball to start with and head it back to Martinez. Must have been tiring as a better forward punishes that error to start with and he was replaced soon after. Martinez can then easily stop the ball going for a corner but doesn't bother. We need to avoid unnecessary set pieces at all costs. First corner to be fair is a really good one from them and we do well to clear, Torres I think. But they block off Martinez and rattle him a bit.

With that back four less Mings we are very weak in the air so we need our keeper to be a lot sharper off his line. Like Bizot was for the first set piece last Thursday. Think Kamara got blocked off but Konsa has to spot the unmarked guy right in front of him too. Watkins usually defends the front post well but he was off by then.

We had enough chances to have given the goal difference column a real boost yesterday. We were always going to tire I felt but lost our shape a bit with Watkins and McGinn going off early. Digne and Rogers should have gone earlier I thought.

Kamara was marking no one so was blocked by no one.

Konsa is aware of the guy behind him and also the guy next to him, he should have been shouting for someone (Rogers? Pau? Kamara?) to come and stand next to him.

Pau and Rogers did keep on looking at where the far post runners were so might have been placed there to stop those, but we ultimately marked near post with three players and far post with 4 and left one player in the middle.

Thought we played some good stuff for 70 mins…had a poor 15 mins then killed the game nicely.  Particularly enjoyed Maatsen coming on getting a free kick tussling with Walker

Bogarde was excellent, Torres makes a real difference when we have the ball.

Could anyone understand a single word the Burnley fans were chanting in the couple of times they woke up? Particularly when Emi was down there was lots of grunting coming from them but it was just noises :-)

Officials were poor, ref never appeared to have control so was always a worry & one lino was flagging offsides and tge other waiting 30 seconds continually.

Speaking of whom, it's crazy how era-spanning Kyle Walker's career has been. He played in the same team for us as Robert Pires.

Have only seen the match on MOTD, where they highligted the partnership between Watkins and Malen, which looked very good and I would have thought Unai will keep the pairing for the Spurs match. The big challenge in the league is now coming up, after Spurs away we've got Man City H, Liverpool A and Bournemouth H.

Minor gripe!

We need to be more clinical in the final third of the pitch.

Yes I kind of think if we were on the top of our game we would have dispatch these 3  or 4 nil ,  but we are getting better

They have one chant in particular that they repeat over and over.  They've had it for years, but I've never been able to make out a word of it.

I also thought Rogers linked up well with Malen which is encouraging for the future and with players coming back from injury we should have good options to cope with 2 games a week.

Indeed. The assist from Rogers for the second goal was an excellent piece of football, simple, quick, great forward pass followed by technique and a finish to match. We've been scoring some excellent goals recently.

Had a look at their goal.again.  You're right - they double up on Konsa.  One blocks him and the other gets in front of him to score.  Kamara was defending alongside Konsa and maybe the gap between them was a bit too big and allowed the Burnley player to attack that space?

I got Rogers and Kamara mixed up there. Konsa got  pinned too easily anyway but looking at it again Kamara gets caught under the flight of the ball I reckon. There's nobody near him and he should be able to time it a bit better. Tiredness was kicking in with a few of the guys who played Thursday.

Something about not playing Blackburn Rovers again, even though it is already highly likely that they will be doing so next season.
