Or if Rogers or if Cash do and the thread is 3 pages long and the other threads barely move a tick. If this forum is a waste of time, ultimately and we all know how it works and who will say what...we're really wasting our lives.

Fuck I’m glum tonight.

We could have lost 6-0 tonight and I’d still be happy.

My youngest scored three goals in training tonight, in only his second session back since he got run over by a Land Rover Defender two weeks before the schools broke up for summer.

I’m aware that this won’t help everyone feel better, but it worked for me.

Great news Percy, bet you are very proud. It's made me feel a bit better so thank you.

Pleased for you and the little man Percy. Could you have a chat with said Land Rover driver to run Matt Cash down?

(Too soon, sorry mate!)

Glad to hear that your son is recovered enough to start scoring goals again, Percy!
What a relief for you and for his mother.

This is true, really. The actual number of heavy users on here is pretty small, and most of us have been using it for years.

We genuinely do know exactly what the opinion of others will be before we even see it.

And you’re right. We are wasting our lives here.

And before anyone says “bye then” THIS IS ALL I HAVE.

I'm still confident in Emery but just wonder about the players. Is everyone still all-in on this team/club? Or are we just anticipating a long season so starting in a more measured (terrible) way?

I've felt for a while that although they have achieved a fair bit in the past couple of seasons, this group of players aren't the most resilient bunch when things aren't going for them.  I accept that there has been a lot more good than bad over the past few seasons, but the bad has tended to be very bad at times.

I look at the squad we have now and just wonder if the will and desire is there to fight their way out of this.  Quite a number of players have been linked with moves away over the past months and the body language does not look great at the moment.  Last night showed that the new players brought in over the summer are going to need time and probably aren't going to provide that instant uplift we need at the moment.

Agreed and it’s why I’m not bothering reading any further up the thread. To my mind despite looking disjointed at times there were some encouraging signs last night, particularly Rogers who looked more like himself in his few minutes on the pitch. The new signings getting minutes is another plus as is Kamara being fit again and having a backup keeper we can trust.

Pinnochio's boast that he wants to win a trophy here coming good again.

Is there really any need for that if you are actually a Villa fan?
He's not. He lives under a bridge in Small Heath.

I agree Chris. Looking forward to Sunderland, a win and only 3 pages to digest.

For so long, under Unai, we have been more than the sum of our parts. Now we look the opposite.

Still way short but there were some positives. Just need our first win to kickstart the season.Thought the fans really turned up for the team last night. Hopefully the same against Sunderland.

Tough one that. One of those that makes the pillow feel colder when your head hits it.

For all the doom saying, there where a few positives to take away. We looked far, far better in the opening 25 then we have all season. Thought Maatsen and Bogaarde where fantastic for the most part and Guessand, despite his loose touches shows some promise. He needs time to bed into the league, I'm not going to kick his teeth out when he's barely had 2 hours on the grass.

Bizot again looked lively with a few decent clearances and catches, though pens seem to be his kryptonite.

Cash (to most peoples annoyance it seems) but in another shift for us and made some great challenges to slow down the counters.

Elliot is as good as I knew he would be. Calm and collected on the ball and runs about like a terrier when needed. If half the midfield had his work rate we'd look twice as good.

Sancho didn't set the wing alight but made a couple of decent runs, dropping his shoulder and taking on the back line. Didn't drop back as much as I think most of us would want, but never seemed to be that sort of player anyway. Keep him high, feed him the ball and let him find Watkins.

Colossal game on Sunday now. Would like to see the same lineup with Watkins in for Malen and Kamara starting, but I doubt it'll happen bar the latter two.
