Has been slow the last 3 weeks for me - thought it was my broadband but same on phone/laptop when out the house taking 10-15 seconds for a page to load. Thought I would chip in too but seems a wider problem. Anyone mods able to update on the reason or possible fix? As others have said - no complaints, just keen to keep on top of news quicker  :)

It's very slow for me too - 10-15 seconds. I'm analysing this thread with Claude - will post any findings

Server response time (TTFB) was ~21 seconds — the browser waited over 21s just to get the first byte back from the server, before it even started downloading images/scripts. Everything after that (images, theme files) loaded in a normal ~400ms each.

That rules out your connection, CSS/JS bloat, or images — this is 100% server-side: the PHP/database backend (SMF forum + Oracle/MySQL) is taking ~20s to generate the page, likely due to server load, a slow query, or resource contention on their host.

Nothing you can fix as a user — worth flagging to the mods with "page takes 20+ seconds to respond before anything loads" so they check server/DB load rather than assets or caching.

As the sever host tech support is being as much use as a fart in a wetsuit, l am going to move the site to a new host, as soon as l get chance.

Sounds like a good idea, this is 100% their problem, if they won't acknowledge that and/or are unable to tell then they're not much use.

As Mallo posted (I assume that was an AI reply) if anything was happening during the delay it points at bandwidth but if it's just a long wait with nothing happening it's that the request is being queued. In this scenario that suggests they've prioritised processing somewhere else and the site is running on whatever spare capacity it can get.

Wouldn't it be easier to ban Legion?

Yeah, no disrespect to anybody, but it is still very slow.

I am doing everything l can think of, or find information on checking.
Getting no assistance from the sever peeps at all, as they say ‘it is working’, so I am going to look at moving to a different sever host.

No criticism of you at all, Martin, thanks for everything you do.

I thought so, too...

But the 10-20 second page load is back (at least for me, even though I can ping the site with an average response time of < 250 ms at the same time). Some pages are snappier, though.

And tonight the site does not take me to the first unread post in a topic, but to the first post on the last page. Weird.
