Fair play to him, he’s a credit to himself as it would have been easy and understandable to cause a fuss and disrupt the squad.

Interesting that he mentions winning the Europa League, how many games did he play, as I can’t remember?

Just read the article and respect to him for handling so maturely. I also thought it came through that Unai and the club treated him respectfully, which is good to hear, although I expect nothing less!

I was chuffed when we signed him, he's a cracking player. He'd be a good fit now Rogers and Bailey have gone.

Thanks. A reasonable claim to say he did help us then. I thought it might be a case of a Stuart Taylor or whoever was Man City 3rd keeper of winning loads of trophies but not contributing anything on the pitch.

When we were so shit at scoring that we hadn't yet scored.

Good on him. It would have been very easy , and even understandable , to slate us with what went on. Clearly a “good un” and “ model pro”.

I hope he has an amazing career.

yep. At that stage a relegation battle felt a certainty and thinking of CL qualification or Europa winners seemed as ludicrous had a nose said or thought it.

He needs to be careful with this talk and think of his future, that kind of attitude will get him nowhere on a future podcasting career.

Is inspirational too strong a word? You don't see much of this kind of character about these days. Massive respect, and well done to Emery for making WHY crystal clear to him. Few more quotes from the Grauniad piece outlining that:

“He explained very, very clearly and a fair few times. The whole club were very apologetic about the situation and, ultimately, it was a situation that I couldn’t control,” Elliott said. “But I knew 100% what the case was. It was like, ‘Ok, I can get over it, I know what the situation is now’.

“It was just about me handling it and showing my professionalism. I’m not that kind of guy who wanted to kick up a fuss and cause problems, because no one really deserves that. It’s just part of football and it was a learning curve for me and an opportunity that I hope I don’t experience again. But it’s a situation where I know I’ve been able to get through it."

Yea, I wish him well. It's just a shame how it panned out.

Hope he hasn’t gone back to the friar?
