It was actually an excellent header because Matty’s cross was deflected. He had to adjust himself almost mid flight and still got a very good header in. Should have scored again later when his touch let him down.

He stepped up tonight, we really needed that from him. Same again against Newcastle please. Great performance.

He came across as quite humble and shy in the interview on TNT afterwards. I guess if you're paid a fortune for little return it must be natural to feel sheepish when asked questions live on telly.

He did say that he is hard on himself which was interesting. If true maybe this goal will give him a bit of confidence.

Could have had a couple of goals. Encouraging performance though.

More of that and adding him permanently on a free in the summer with sensible wages would be a smart move.

Hopefully the goal will do him good. It was a lovely placed header.

Only seen the first half where he played well. Having said that, his first touch for that other chance was shocking.

Sorry, still not convinced that he would be the best use of limited funds.

Rather depends on how much "more of that" happens in the next four months and how sensible those "sensible wages" are really.

I would imagine his wages are 5 + times Bogarde which puts into perspective the value for money argument.

I reckon you might even be underestimating there.

But his current wages are irrelevant - he's not going to be getting close to his current wages either with us or somewhere else at his next club.

Very attractive from a PSR point of view getting someone in on a free like what we did with Kamara and Tielemans. So I'd say Sancho will knock a very decent contract out of his next gig in the summer.

Maybe Emery can get some bit of a tune out of him for the next few months. We can't keep relying on Rogers and Buendia to a lesser degree.

Since it's SCR rather than PSR from next season, it may just down to which is lower:
a) the annual cost of his wage with amortisation of a big signing bonus?, or
b) an equivalent player with a lower wage but annual amortisation of a big purchase fee

I suspect the difference is less than we'd assume when we see 'on a free', particularly as agents fees are included in calculations towards SCR.
