We're all here because of the men's team, the reserves/youth directly have an impact on the men's team. The women's team doesn't. Doesn't bother me if this thread is pinned or not, but you can't compare it to the academy teams.

The women's team ought to be pinned, really. It doesn't hurt anybody and there's no real reason not to.

I really don't understand it, either. Some people do care about the women's game, that's the point.

But at the end of the day, we are treating this team differently solely on the basis that the players are women.

That's not only a bit silly, it's also quite sad in this day and age.

That's not true. If it was just based on gender I'd be more interested in the women. :-)

The women's game just isn't good enough to warrant my sustained interest.  There's less interest int eh women's game overall, attendances went down last season.

I didn't really mean people's personal interest, I meant more that they're the only team not be worthy of a pin.

Still people on here who haven’t realised this isn’t a democracy.

With this surge of enthusiasm about the ladies, I'd be interested if anyone can name the manager of the women's team (without looking it up)

Like quite few people, I have zero interest in the women’s team but, for those that do want to watch them, good luck to you.

Because the amount of respect deserved by the women's team can somehow be measured by assessing the general ignorance of the mostly male posters...

I gamble on the women's team quite a lot. They're always good for an over 2.5 goals or BTTS.

Next season the bottom team will be in a play-off with 3rd in WSL2, with two extra teams coming up to make 14 teams. Then one direct relegation and one playoff game for the bottom two ongoing after that.

No it isn't, it's just some old men stubbornly sticking with an arbitrary decision.

I'm off to the wildly popular stickied Betting topic.

I am a fan of the women's game (Internationally) and I watch the Villa games whenever I can. I'm not really sure what difference the stickiness of the thread matters though.

I guess it doesn’t make any difference whether it is sticky or not, but given that they are trying to grow the women’s game in this country, hence moving to 14 teams within the women’s super league, I think there is responsibility and some degree of pleasure in watching people who carry our clubs colours and called themselves Aston Villa in trying to do their very best to raise the profile of the game. I am also here, generally for the men’s team but do have a passing interest in what happens with the kids, reserves, women’s team. It doesn’t hurt to have a sticky, happy either way though.
