Seems some Palace fans involved somewhere as well. I'm assuming they can still go to the game, just told to leave the area last night.

Actually, very Italian Bloke Behaviour, but that's a story for another day.
Didn't it start as an Italien movement?

I defer to Dave on this but, like, there's no fecking way it didn't.

There's nothing like the fans being part of the game. The away team are on top and the home team are rocking, their fans gone silent and the away fans letting out a gutteral roar as they win back to back corners. It's fucking brilliant. Forest fans looking on in disbelief as they literally crumble under an onslaught from the team and relentless jeers from the Villa fans,  relentless pressing and atmosphere from all around them got right on top of them.

Flag waving and bouncing is all lovely to look at on Youtube shorts and pictures on ultras websites.

More cups than flags is what they say about us. In German, though.
I'd love it if the Villa fans all started singing that in Salzburg!

Definitely don't defer to my hazy memory of a 25 year old university essay - Wikipedia says Salerno in the 20s, picked up bigger by Fiorentini in the 30s and then the Brazilians ran with it for a bit after that.

There was one stage towards the end of the Final where Villa fans were building to a crescendo as final whistle approached and Freiburg started doing choreographed a bouncing and then swaying. Really weird.

Cup finals in the UK had a "spot the funny flag" feel for years until there was a ban on bringing anything that could be seen as a weapon into grounds in the 80's. In the 70's me and my mate used to make the odd flag at home to take. Never seemed to come back naturally among fans until the tifo/ultra stuff fairly recently. I am sort of meh with it tbh

I'm not a fan of flags at games, really.

At the 2010 LC final, I got poked in the eye twice by the guy with the flag in front. The second time was literally while he was apologising for the first.

When we all get flags to wave as the team comes out, I'd rather applaud and cheer (and see), as I think that does more for the players, rather than making a pretty picture for the TV.

I mentioned to a Freiburg fan in the pub after the match last week that I preferred our method of supporting (a bit like everyone on here). Perhaps unsurprisingly, he had the complete opposite view.

Anyone that uses a drum or any means of artificially boosting the volume of a support is cheating. Anyone that doesn't watch any of their game should be thrown out and banned from buying tickets for future games which could otherwise have been purchased by proper fans, the selfish twats.

Sorry, but that is hilarious. Was it the same eye, or did he go full slapstick and take out both?

Haha, was the same eye! It was still in my face and as he tried to lift it up and away, he ended up flicking it back up into the eye again.

Talking about flags, I had one at the 2010 LC final. There was a really annoying fan behind me. I deleiberately got him in the eye with my flag, then realised I could get him again "by accident". The fool believed my apology as well. How I kept a straight face I couldn't say.
