Me and Risso were at the first game of last season together, I said then they had big problems as they were mush and had just spent a fortune.

Don't watch a huge amount of other football these days but since then they've stood out as the poorest side in the league.

This year, I predicted that unless the promoted teams had an awful season, Wolves, West Ham and Brentford could be down. Obviously Brentford was a surprise package (although they did spend shit-loads of the money they brought in) but the other two was pretty much going to happen, especially when Potter did nothing with them in the 5 months he had last season.

Brentford ended the season with one win in ten, so perhaps like Liverpool after Klopp the predicted decline was just delayed.

Maybe. Might have been just knackered out like our first season under Emery. I would also argue the long throw tactics are starting to be countered as well.

To their utter shame, Sporting lost the Cup Final yesterday to a club I and many others before the final didn't even know existed, Torreense. Second division club from a small town 50 minutes north of Lisbon, they play in a ground with a capacity of 2,431.
The worst thing is, Torreense fully deserved the win, even if it came from an extra time penalty.

I've yet to see the odds on them winning the 2027 Europa League though they must be similar to away fans getting a ticket for trip to Torres Vedras.

Hopefully, long throws are an abomination. Put a time clock on them and corners, might lead to some McPhee like variations.

So rat face breaks the assists record from a goal that was clearly an own goal upon replay yet the PL has still awarded the goal to Dorgu. I hate using the term corruption but what else could that be?

Yeah I suppose so, but at the same time it feels pretty hard to get worked over the assists record.

It’s more the fact there are clear and obvious ways specific clubs and players are shown favouritism. I don’t give a fuck about the assist record on its own. It’s a bullshit stat and especially when set pieces are considered. It’s more the player and club recognized getting that ruling in their favour.

I think that’s a mad position, but fair enough.  ;D

Likewise - I don’t see how a club can spend the thick end of half a billion pounds in 3 / 4 seasons and people claim that the club is in a mess because not enough money was spent.

How many more hundreds of millions would have meant that they'd spent enough to not get relegated?

I'd liken the mismanagement to our early time in the Championship. We didn't finish 13th (?) because we hadn't spent enough, it was because we spent stupid amounts of money really badly.

I literally didn’t say that. You’re just looking for an argument.

There’s no point in discussing something with someone who quite clearly isn’t interested in listening and just repeats the same response over and over.

Genuinely don't think he is, mate! He's just not quite getting your argument. Which is, lets face it, very subtle*.

Surely nobody on here would do that?
