There wasn’t much evidence on the racism incident. It took about a year to process it and then they decided he’d said something on ‘the balance of probability’ - this meant that PNE fans stood up for him despite the charges. However, I was suspicious of his attitude. They played Burnley very shortly after the allegation from one of their players, and he scored and taunted their fans. I think if I had that hanging over my head and was innocent I’d be keeping my head down a bit more!

The consensus among PNE fans today is that he’s a liability and an embarrassment and most want rid of him with the only reservation being that he’s not worth anything with his record so who can they get in!

Wonder if he might call it a day or join Deano in the US or somewhere handy? Only had an outside chance of making England squad for WC but still a very good PL player. Everton will hardly take up option of signing him permanently now. Don't see him playing on into his late 30s like Barry

His control was still there on Sunday, just a perfect first touch, but the acceleration over the first few yards has gone and it ain't coming back.

Newcastle struggled to break down bottom of the table Wolves at the weekend - but Eddie Howe's side have found joy time and time again tonight by pressing the Dutch champions high and forcing them into mistakes.

Yoane Wissa has led that press very effectively.
