For a shit game week it’s been a great game week. Also one of our shit results from our poor start to the season only matched by our rivals.

Two of the best nil-nil games I've seen, and all in one evening. Great stuff.

Arsenal will no doubt be ringing around tomorrow getting quotes for a May delivery of silver polish.  Which will make their inevitable demise even more delicious.

I don't think it was a shit result for us, Sunderland have been very good at home, unbeaten in 10 there now.

All we need is for Arsenal to blink before we do and it's practically as you were with the Emirates out the way. If we drop points first I'll call it, but not before.

Fair.

What about if we both lose at the weekend though?

No I don’t think it was either but at the time it was viewed as one. That game, the Newcastle draw when down to ten, even the Everton game at their new ground, aren’t as bad as they seemed at the time.

BBC website:

A brilliant atmosphere and the Black Cats have taken points off both of the title contenders at their fortress-like home.

Do they mean us?

Inbretrospect, looking at these scores, getting a point at their place, albeit against 10 men was deffo not too bad.

Sunderland 1-1 Villa
Chelsea 1-2 Sunderland
Sunderland 2-2 Arsenal
Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland
Man City 3-0 Sunderland
Sunderland 0-0 Man City

Only beaten by Man City out of the top 5 clubs

It's as you were. Basically if the gap gets bigger I think we're done, but for now there's a puncher's chance.

Just need to take care of business in our next 2 games. Citeh v Chelsea and Arsenal V Liverpool will ensure our rivals are dropping points.

One thing that is becoming abundantly clear is that UE’s policy of conserving energy is paying dividends. Okay, Onana might be the exception but otherwise, managing minutes for each player is all part of it too. Yes, it didn’t work out well v Arsenal but although the result looked like we were given a stuffing it really wasn’t one. Warkins takes that first half decent chance the game is different and probably favours us.  I know it’s a lot of ifs, buts and maybes. Now we have to start the next episode of a new long unbeaten run.
