I do wonder why they bother
I'm sure as part of a suite of stats it's useful to professional coaches and scouts it's of some value, but to Joe public?

I can’t imagine a satisfactory HT discussion based on xG stats🤔

Pick that buggar out.

Great hit from Bowen.

Or a big deflection of Keane.

I don’t really understand this xG business. How does this equate to West Ham expecting to score more than Everton?

It’s absolute nonsense…eyes can tell you who is on top etc.  Football is not an exact science do expected tells you it means nothing.  Football is on grass not spreadsheets

On the game - Diouf won’t be slumming it at pointless club West Ham for long-looks a player

Bowen would be a decent cover for McGinn.

Stately home with his 5th booking in 6 games.

Impressive.

Two mediocre teams. There was nothing I saw from Grealish that makes me even slightly envious.

When analysing the performance of teams in one particular match, agreed. When used over a much larger quantity of matches as one of a number of figures you could utilise to assess the quality of strikers, it seems a perfectly reasonable tool.

Thought Grealish was poor, very ineffective.

Thought Grealish was poor, very ineffective.

He was ok but it's not a good look for a player of his ability to continually pass up the chance to get a shot at goal. He was never prolific with us but still scored some belters. Won't even try a shot outside the box these days.

WHU already looked a better team tonight than under Potter. Two genuinely awful number 9s on display tonight, Wesley-esque levels.
