Watching Bayern v Chelsea and finding it hard to believe we beat both of these last season. The famous Duran goal that sunk Bayern and two late goals from Asensio that turned it around when we were 0-1 down to Chelsea. Both of those players are no longer with us and we're looking at the likes of Guessand and Malen instead. It's kind of indicative of our demise so far this season and it's pretty depressing. I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to the Villa but I'm having some dark moments lately.

That’s what I said earlier too. I still have faith things will get better and this is a phase or moment in time. But at this moment contrasting to what other fans are enjoying, it’s all a bit poop.

Simeone completely lost it with the fans then.

This is a worry. As good as Emery is, trying to lift morale and coach a team when we’re systematically making ourselves worse has got to be a tough ask. The new signings may turn out ok, but they certainly are not a better standard than the likes of Ramsey (when and if fit), Duran, Rashford and Asensio.

Yes but it’s Liverpool fans, anyone can lose it with them.

That's the general narrative out there. After the Everton game one of the English papers was going on about playing Bogarde and Buendia in midfield as indicative of our decline from the heady days of running PSG close. But it ignores a lot of things, Bogarde is maybe 5th choice and both did ok anyway. Asensio's impact was mixed at best and ended up in Turkey. Duran, hugely talented though he was, is already on his second club after us again now in Turkey.

Emery has been as guilty of wallowing in our circumstances as anyone. The likes of Onana and Malen didn't just show up unannounced so he has to own it and work with them. Elliot and Sancho have talent anyway so he has plenty to work with there. I think there's been some positive signs in the last couple of games and hopefully first win to come at the weekend.

I had no idea that Lenglet was in the Simeone house of madness
