Re the Palace disallowed goal. A rules has been dug up which I’ve never heard of and I’m pretty sure hasn’t been enforced before. Seems like a case of protecting the Big 6. Can someone explain what I’m missing.
I remember the rule being announced several years ago, if you hadn't I can't help you but it was obvious always being enforced just that it has never usually been used to stop a goal. The ref is always moving attacking players from too close in front or behind, or too close to the sides when the freekick is setting up before the whistle.
In this case the Palace player was positioned far enough away so the ref blew his whilstle to carry-on. However before the ball was kicked the palace player had manouvrerd himself and the Chelsea player into the wall and was obviously interfering. He obviously didn't spot the movement but VAR did. I didn't see it live, just the fallout after but was he sent to video or just told over the earpiece?
