And Guendouzi who has just joined them, one of those players I always thought UE would buy at some point. Still might I suppose.
Already did buy him.......

Looks like we will be up against Kante as well as Asensio when we play Fenerbahçe. Of course I might have jinxed their deal for him given I have those powers.

Not sure how we will be up against him if they have just signed him.

Depends when he gets registered I suppose and his fitness. Our game there is next Thursday.

Not sure mate. Yeh I didn’t consider that so that’s possible and doesn’t/can’t play vs us.

Have we played any other Turkish teams since Trabzonspor?  Struggling to think of one.

We have played Fenerbahce.

That 77-78 game was played at Besiktas Inonu stadium as Fenerbache’s pitch was waterlogged. There were about 40 of us there, that night. The Inonu stadium has since been fully redeveloped and is where we’ll, hopefully be returning for the final and Fenerbache have since moved to a new stadium.

I'm going out on the Monday with Turkish airlines and doing the tourist but for a couple of days. Match day and the whole scenario about getting to / from the game plus the game itself will be interesting / totally grinding.

I’mdoing the same , with friends coming on the Tuesday.
With what’s being rumoured around 5 hours before the match coaches, I’m genuinely considering not going to the game and staying in the city.

Here's one that I found interesting. We've played 122 intercontinental games (used that to include Penarol). Strangely, our record in the European Cup/Champions League is way superior to the others.

Win ratios:

EC/CL - 62.96%
UC/UEL - 46.77%
UECL - 57.14%
IC - 37.5% (!)
USC - 50% (fuck off Barca)
Penasoddingrol - 0%

This is the 14th time we've been in the UEFA Cup/Europa League. Never past the quarter finals (twice, Barca and Atletico), which is strange as we've made at least the quarters, and beyond on one particular occasion, when it the bigger cup. Good luck, Unai.

So yeah. Pretty interesting and that, right?

Played Besiktas second time around in the European Cup too. 3-1 at home. 0-0 away.

I’d love to hear stories of that trip Lenny. I remember BRMB saying the home fans lit a fire when we were 2-0 up. Now I know it was at Besiktas stadium I understand why.

I remember a bloke on here years ago called Sunny IIRC who was one of the small group that went to Fenerbahce. He ran out of money and it took him 6 weeks to get home. That really is worthy of a podcast.
