Spurs winning midweek is the lesser of 2 evils.  Neither team deserve CL football nor the cash it brings next year - they'll both spend it on shit whilst one of the current top 7 could use that same cash to build & challenge the Sky Six.  A wounded Yantied should add to the comedy with nothing at all resting on the game for us.

I'm sure non qualification fucks up Manure more the Spurs. Spurs have the psr AND wages leeway anyway for their spending. Whilst Manure might be hit with the wages uptick of CL membership like with Rashford, we don't know how much that is and how many players are affected. We do know that they are getting significantly less revenue though from all their sponsors.

Yup. Man Utd with Amorim trying to smash Maguire, Hoilund and Casemiro into something coherent in the Champions League next season doesn't suddenly make all their problems go away.

Spurs, with an inevitably better manager than they now have, huge amount of spending leeway, extra money and extra prestige might just find their problems going away. Or at the very least seeing their problems returning to their self-entitled "why are we only good enough to finish in the top four rather than challenging for the title" ones of a few years ago.

Man Utd in the Champions League is miles better for Villa's prospects next season than Spurs being in the Champions League.

Todays extracts from Red Cafe (who do we want top 5 thread) -

City missing out would be ideal but I don't see them losing two in a row. Forest vs. Chelsea has draw written all over it, so my guess is: Dippers, Arsenal, City, Newcastle, Villa.

City missing out would be nice, don't care about others. Villa missing out because they failed to beat us would be nice as well as we would finally get some kind of result in league.

Annoying that even under Unai we have a poor record against them. 4 points from 15.

Well, Emery has certainly broken the odd record already since he’s been here.

Sometimes, you just have to out and get the job done.

Yeah, we finally started beating those Brentford twats, and West Ham. If we can win this one then spend all summer working out how to destroy Crystal sodding Palace, that would be nice.

Qualifying for the Europa League isn't a failure (& winnable), but now we've had the taste of CL & the calibre of players we have attracted as a consequence, it has to be our target whilst not in our hands, as Unai has stated on several occasions.

That's the problem. If Villa had gone from the Conference League to the eminently winnable Europa League (I mean....just look at how crap the two teams in the final are) and then stepped up again to the Champions League, things would feel better.

Villa are playing in all the right competitions, just not necessarily in the right order

Had a look on a Man U forum, and already seen a couple of posts expressing a desire not to help out Man City, Newcastle, or Chelsea by beating us.

No recollection of Stuart Ritchie either but I do remember Phil Robinson, he was in the same sort of class as Dean Glover, Paul Kerr, Darren Bradley et all.

They never looked like they thought they deserved to be playing, and they were right.

These lads were before my time but whenever I see them mentioned on here, they just sound like they were minor reoccurring characters in Emmerdale Farm (as was) circa 1991-'93.
