It's probably been mentioned well before now, but during the commentary on Saturday's game it was stated that there is only one player who has played more games under Unai Emery than Pau Torres has played, throughout Unai's coaching career. That's how highly he rates him.

I'm sure there was a quote somewhere as well where Emery described him as his perfect centre-back.

Unfortunately some are probably going to have to get used to the idea that Emery's Villa probably have Pau Torres as the left-sided centre-back.
Unless we start outscoring teams again then we are going to have problems as clearly evidenced .

Yep our record recently has been so poor.

As clearly evidenced by how bad we’ve done since bringing Pau into the club.

And we've outscored the other team in twelve of our last sixteen matches.

It is weird when someone entirely takes against a player.

We are on a very good run recently in which Mings has played in the majority of the wins and in none of the defeats . I do accept that Emery prefers Torres as evidenced in recent team selections .

Anyway back to the game and i do think we can win this. Wolves won here recently too. First goal will be crucial .

We’ve got a pretty appalling record there - we really need to start on the front foot.

Do we? In the Premier League era, we have won 1, lost 2 and drawn once. At home we have won 2, lost 2 and drawn once. Under Emery we have not lost to them.

I do not fancy us at all, I fear we'll go for control again and just hand it to the opposition.

I had no idea the capacity was so small there.  They've done amazingly well as a club in the modern era.

He had him at both Valencia and Sevilla - I think it's one of those thing's that's less impressive as it's more just a case of "which players have played at more than one club for Emery", rather than someone who plays all the time for him.

Obviously he'd have to like the player a fair bit to want to take him to a new club though.

Can’t see us winning this I’m afraid
Draw 1-1

Yes, I feel a bit like that, but I don't know why really.  We could've done with Chelsea playing Liverpool rather than Liverpool reserves and some other hungover chumps. If we do manage to beat Bournemouth and other results are kind, it'll start looking very doable again though so I hope our instincts are wrong!
