If you do, can I request you try and uncover the background, the backers and where he is now of Tony Xia.

It depends, is it an autobiographical account about life in the royal family?

Nah, an erotic thriller set against the backdrop of the later Ellis years is what I want.
I could get behind this. Maybe the mid 80s would be better though. An explanation for why we got relegated so soon after winning the European Cup. Boardroom shenanigans, and taking our eye off the ball. Combining my two favourite things, Aston Villa, and er … the 1980s.

I feel the next 6 weeks are the conclusion of a chapter of our recent history - dating back to the takeover in 2018. If we succeed (a trophy or successive CL qualification) then it will be considered a success, if we don't, then I can see some key members of this squad (Emi, Oli, McGinn, Kamara - maybe Konsa) moving on and there being some significant changes on and off the pitch.

I think they could be.  Like you, I think a trophy or qualifying for the CL again would draw a clear line under the transition from the 2nd worst period in the club's history through to getting back to the top table in England. However, I don't draw quite the same conclusions on key members of the squad.

I think if we qualify for Europe, we keep most if not all of them.  Given how well we've done in the Champions League this season, we'd go in to the Europa League or Conference League as favourites.  Not one of the favourites, but the favourite to win it.  It's why I think qualifying for Europe again, over all else really, is critical.  Because nobody is going to leave if they think there's a very realistic chance that in 12 months time they'll have a Europa League winners medal, and Champions League football the season after.

The one thing I think will change dramatically is that the current squad is still to a large extent the Dean Smith squad.  I suspect over the next few summers we'll move to very much an Emery squad, partially because we're signing players who are on a higher level than we could realistically get under Deano (Asensio, Rashford) and partially just because the Dean Smith players will begin to get towards the latter part of their careers.  Mings is 32 now, SJM is 30, ... we'll need to start planning for what to do after they move on.

Go for it. I bought and read 3 of them quite a while back now. The manager one, 1981 season and another which I recall picked a key game per season over a couple of decades.

Do you think it's about time I wrote another book?

Yes!

This recent spamming of our league cup wins on the Waterstones shelves stirred you into action again.

I've said for last few years the Lerner decade is ripe for a whole dissertation with some of the key players.

Paul Faulkner still working in Birmingham in consultancy role so not sure what his loyalties are anymore but he'd have a fair bit to say I'm sure especially with the McLeish appointment!

I'd also be happy to contribute under the Andrew Greaves alias.....

Yes read all of them back in the day. Also a shout out to Percy who did I think a season review for 06/07 from the viewpoint of just going to games and so much I could relate to.
