We could have given our consent, but it would have been worth nothing as FA laws overrule it. :-)

Glad to have been of service.

I don't think it's evidence of a great anti-Villa conspiracy, but it does seem fairly shoddy journalism not to bother his arse spending five seconds on Google to check what he said was vaguely accurate.

It's hardly 'journalism'. It's a couple of paragraphs of filler that no-one reads.

I imagine an underpaid bloke reporting on council issues for the local paper still considers himself to be "doing journalism" even if it's not particularly important or widely read.

I'm going to find out who's covering the Devizes Vegetable Festival and give them the right fucking bird on Twitter if they don't get the dimensions of the fifth-placed marrow spot on. Stealing a living, these big-eared wordfilth scumtwat wanktitters.

I don't think you need to do that. But I'd definitely feel a bit of sympathy for the winner of the first place marrow if he picked up the paper and the report was all about how his shit carrot wasn't even orange.

But if it was a 100 word preview of the festival it wouldn't matter at all.

None of it "matters". It would just mean he was a sloppy journalist, like this Will Onion character.

This is getting very shoddy now. Marrow seeds won't be planted for another month!

Just do some basic fucking research.

It's mad how often the clutching of rosaries and pursing of apertures about the decline in journalistic standards coincides with the publication of a piece that fails to offer grovelling acclaim to the sacred behemoth, Aston Villa.

Not pointing at Dave here, nor indeed any particular individual.

I think it's important to hold people to account. If you just let people post any old shit online without bothering to do a modicum of fact-checking, what do you have? My posting history, that's what. And no laté quaffing, metropolitan elite newspaper ever gives me any money to express my ill-researched opinions. The twats.

Fair to say Will Funyon is pretty dense though to not know that a loan player can't play against his parent club in the FAC as it's been a rule for years.

I'd hope not. I'm the very last person to give a toss.

Give me a well-written piece ripping us a new one over some badly-written obsequiousness any day.

But sometimes there are just badly-written pieces of slop that can be called out for being badly-written pieces of slop.

This is one of them.

I agree he should've got it right, but if he's spent any time speaking to people at Preston (as he indeed has, according to yesterday's Football Weekly, piece out at the weekend) he'll have been hearing that it's in our gift to let KKH play. That's what I got from looking at a Preston forum the other day, and I think the club has commented to that effect (subs - please check). Obviously it doesn't take long to verify, but it's really very small beer.

Mason Mount apparently played for Derby Vs Chelsea.

Not in the FAC.

A quick Soccerbase check says that he played against them in the League Cup, so presumably there are different rules for that competition.

If I were being paid for my football writing like Will Bunion is, I'd look it up.
