we either sell Watkins this summer, or he stays till the end.

Yep.  If he stays then we can gamble on some youngsters for a year or two knowing with have the insurance of Watkins.

It’s worth rephrasing that, he’d prefer to play in Saudi than in the PL.

I missed the last 15 minutes, did we miss any big chances?  Before that, Watkins had one and Rogers had two half chances at the near post.  Generally, however, we didn’t create much.  Is that how it carried on?
Ascensio put a great chance over the bar , he really should have scored.

Ipswich kettled the game a lot, interestingly switching wings every so often as a unit to do it. Which, a man down away to the team ten places above you, is absolutely fair enough. We just didn't have the nous to break it down

We broke it down enough times but were let down by wasteful finishing. Without ever playing particularly well we should have won the game comfortably. It’s happened to often this season.

Whether we decide to cash in on Watkins or not in the summer, I’m not sure he’s really to blame for not winning yesterday. He had two good chances and scored one of them. I think Asensios chance was a better one than the chance Ollie missed. Watkins also did really well to set Rogers up at the end of the 1st half, great save but Rogers has to bury that.

I think there is a lot of writing our chances of Europe off in mid-Feb, which seems very premature and just as much based on all the teams above us maintaining better form than us for the next few months, which isn’t a given. Saying that other than Man City, our wins at home have come against, Southampton, Wolves, Everton, Brentford, Leicester. We are going to have to up our game with Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Forest and Fulham to come to Villa Park.

Seems sometimes we're trying to walk the ball into the net rather than shooting when the clear opportunity arises.  Very frustrating at times, although the new signings all have something different to offer.  I do think we're looking at a UEFA or Conference League campaign next year.
There was nothing to aim at because of the amount of bodies they had protecting the goals and blocking pretty much everything we tried which was very frustrating. When we did manage to get a shot on target there was an ex albion reserve keeper who turned into prime Lev Yashin for the day. We did manage to carve out some clear chances but once again they went begging. It's what has defined our our season.

We're currently looking at no Europe next season. You get nothing for 9th. Our current form isn't good enough to move us up either. There needs to be a change, both play style and defensively we are still off.

We really are careless with our chances, the last two games we’ve carved out some excellent opportunities. Rogers, Ramsey, Watkins and Asensio should really have a goal or two to their name. It’s been like this all season. Last season they were flying in.

That and letting opponents score from so few chances is destroying the league form.

Our corners are hopeless. We had enough of them yesterday but they're so predictable to defend.

Our free kicks were not much better until Rashford smashed it at the bar.

Set pieces were all poor apart from the Rashford/Watkins goal .
Corners were either floaty nothing balls or short ones that lead to nothing. Macphee isn't having much impact this season .

I don't think he's having any impact this season.

Aren't we still second or third in most goals from set-pieces in the league? I'm sure I saw a graph showing that recently on MOTD or something, with Arsenal comfortably in front thanks to their penalty-corners.

We only had 16 no where near enough for us to get a goal

Yep, I saw that too eamonn, we are, however I wonder what the statistics are in relation to our conversion rate. It does seem we’re not making the most, but that might just be frustration due to our lack of cutting edge this season in general.
