Quote from: Smithy on February 16, 2025, 02:38:42 PMThere are games where we don’t play well, or look “off it”, and as disappointing as it is not come away with three points, I think it speaks volumes that the oppo goalie was man of the match.Another day we win that 4-1. I didn’t think the performance was “that bad”. Not great either, mind, but we’ve played a lot worse recently. On another day we win 4-1 ?Not sure of the logic, and on this day we were held to a draw by 10 men in a relegation battle. It was poor whichever way you wrap it up.

Quote from: Grande Pablo on February 15, 2025, 05:17:08 PMSeems sometimes we're trying to walk the ball into the net rather than shooting when the clear opportunity arises. Very frustrating at times, although the new signings all have something different to offer. I do think we're looking at a UEFA or Conference League campaign next year. There was nothing to aim at because of the amount of bodies they had protecting the goals and blocking pretty much everything we tried which was very frustrating. When we did manage to get a shot on target there was an ex albion reserve keeper who turned into prime Lev Yashin for the day. We did manage to carve out some clear chances but once again they went begging. It's what has defined our our season.

On another day, a player of Asensios obvious quality, buries the easy chance and probably finishes the one the keeper saves. On another day, Rogers buries that one in the first half, likewise Rashfords cross at the end squirms past the keeper after the deflection. We didn’t play well, but its bizarre to pretend we didnt dominate that match, in particular the second half.

And if your aunt had bollocks she’d be your uncle.Where did anyone say we didn’t dominate the match ? Or are you just making that bit up.Yes, we dominated 10 men.Yes, we carved out and missed many good chances. We have an abundance of riches up front, but ultimately we failed to beat 10 men, who are in a relegation battle. We have have far too many of those performances and results at home this season. And yet another game where we haven given away a shit goal to the oppositions first shot on target. If we are serious about pushing on and getting higher up the league, we have to do better.I don’t particularly want to be happy with a 1-1 draw with 10 man Ipswich fucking Town.

If Hitlers Mom had a headache that night no Hitler. However he was born and was a massive ****** and we could only scrape a draw with an awful Ipswich side. It doesnt fill me with confidence how any team can play us and get something nowadays. I was in the bad day at the office camp but think the office is truly fucked at times now. Well played Ipswich however as it is nice having them in the league. But how we havent got all 6 points is beyond me and needs sorting as despite what some posters think I cannot see us getting anything from Liverpool or Chelsea unless we work on finishing.
Quote from: LeonW on February 16, 2025, 02:03:26 AMThen, have to consider that in our position, we’re not going to be sinking £60/70 odd million we may get for Ollie on a direct replacement. That’s not how Monchi operates. We’d be looking at a younger player, or someone who is damaged goods elsewhere, probably outside of the EPL that we’d take a chance on becoming as good or better than Watkins. Arsenal are not operating in our market, certainly not in January. They are looking for a guaranteed, EPL experienced striker that can plug straight into their side. Step forward Gonçalo Ramos at PSG. The footballing Ollie Watkins. For numerous reasons it hasn't quite worked out for him since leaving Benfica. There was talk of him going on loan to Juventus in the January window but not for sale. I think PSG would bite our hand off if they were to get their £50m back they paid for him. That said it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at Arsenal.Champions League football would probably be a requirement though.
