I thought it would be entertaining to dip into the Gooners forum. It's quite an experience. The level of insults towards our club and our city was vile. First off the matchday thread was titled Villa Vulvas. The rest was a pretty unhinged take on today's match and a random sprinkling of casual racism and and personal insults to our players and and especially our manager. There doesn't appear to be any moderators or if there is they're extremely lenient. They're so horrible as a fan base I can actually say something I never thought I would. I hope Liverpool win the league. There i've said it now. I'd better go and scrub myself.

It definitely felt like a win , and nothing better than spoiling their season again .
We are building momentum at exactly the right time. UTFV .

JJ has missed a lot of football and it is showing, he will barring more injuries get faster and stronger. Perhaps now we will see more crosses from wide players, it's been missing for too long.

We obsess with goal difference every year and it hardly ever makes a difference. I do like correcting the mathematically-challenged who like to insist that it's "worth a point", though.

There was a potential set of results this weekend that would have left 4 teams on 38 points. Goal difference would have meant the difference between 4th and 8th, with us being in 8th. I know it's not the end of the season and presumably some of those teams will take points off eachother before the end, but it's an incredibly close table this season. Goal difference could very well come into it.

I'm moving to the opinion it will. So we just need to ensure we match the points of the 2nd or 3rd team instead of the 5th.

Two points dropped, disappointing.

Got to say, looking back at the 2 goals we conceded, Emi was very poor for both of them.
Don't agree. Goalkeepers can often look clumsy  due to ricochets and awkward bounces and are obvious target for blame due to being the proverbial last chance saloon. It's easy to forget that by 30 minutes gone he had made two fab saves to keep us in the game.

I’ve come home from there today with a real sense of pride. I thought that second half performance was a show of strength and resilience, and it feels like a win to me. Hats off to them.

Same here. We allowed two clean struck shots at him from crosses in the 6 yard box, in those cases it is more luck than judgement that saves are made, ie he can do what he can but the bounce and spin on the ball also needs to favour and in both of those they didn't. The first one was cm's from being a tremendous save if you look at the hawkeye. The second could easily have spun wide of the far post but spun inside of it.

All sorts of opinions matter, but it's a bit of a stretch to be critical of 4 points on the road inside a few days, especially against a very impressive opponent today.
And put a couple of new manager bounces to bed with total efficiency.

Interesting.

I think I'd err on the side of downplaying silly names for the opposition if my club's name literally began with 'Arse'.

Unless they ever play Penistone Church FC (yes I had to look it up) they've lost that little battle before it even begins.

Edit: or perhaps

Any others? Is there a 'Wanktown Wanderers'?

Felt like we had real leaders out there 2nd half and a resilience rarely associated with us . It hopefully gives them all belief now to take the next step. Huge games ahead .

Yes. They play in gold and black and their home ground is called Molineux.

They really do dislike us and I find that just wonderful.
