Ian Wright was giving it a right whinge post match about "the board need to back Arteta now". He seems to have used the budget already given to him in a strange way. Merino and Calafiori are good players but they have lots of options in those positions already. Sterling seems done. Huge money spent on Rice and Havertz the previous summer, Havertz always seemed a bit samey to like of Odegaard.
Or the manager isn't good enough

I find him very irritating, but it’s hard to argue he hasn’t done a pretty good job there.

I didn't see the match yesterday but today watched the first half, expecting it - having read the thread on here - to have been like the Alamo, wave after wave of Arsenal attack, with us doing little in return.

It wasn't like that at all.

has he though?

He's had, what, four or five years, spent a shit load of money, including 100m on one player, and delivered one FA Cup.

Exactly, they really are not all that without White Saliba Saka Jesus.

We were much better at VP and until we took SJM off looked like we would win.

Sounds like some gang sign. Although not sure why you included Jesus who only scores against Crystal Palace or White who has been out for half a season again as players who they missed and made them poorer. Just seems to denigrate a good result. Almost as bad as when people were stating how well Spurs were doing last season with their injuries, totally missing out we had Mings and Kamara out.

Saliba and Saka would walk into our team - in fact all teams in Europe just about. The other 2 would be squad players here as they are for Arsenal

Reading some of their fans' comments on the game yesterday, more than once I saw comments pointing out that we brought on Bailey, Duran and Digne, who would be at the very least challenging for starting spots at Arsenal, whereas they had Raheem Sterling.

Better still Arsenal facing FA punishment for showing replays of Havertz non goal on the big screens in breach of VAR protocols.
Points deduction surely . Set a precedent.

Someone was asking on the match thread, when did we last come from 2 goals down against a Sky 6 team?

Well, I was at Highbury for a glorious night in '96 when we did just that. Did we manage to do it again in the 29 years since?...can't remember

If you mean December '96, don't think we were 2-0 down in that game.

He prob means the league cup semi final. The game in the white kit was the following campaign.

He does mean that yes. Not a dissimilar game. We went 2-0 down before we even got going, Berkamp leading us a merry dance IIRC. Then, we woke up, couple of great strikes from Yorkie and Savo, and it was 2-2. The home return was 0-0 over an 120 mins that seemed like 120 hours. I remember Yorke running into a corner towards then end like he just wanted a snooze for 5 mins. The lads barely had enough left to raise their hands in celebration at the end...

Yorke got them both.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

The people at halftime ripping into Bogarde as well seemed strange.

It’s really good to see Bogarde do well in that role. Keeping things ticking over is a massively underrated skill, and very important.

The match thread is a strange place. I will avoid it at all costs as all rationality seems to disappear from our supporters. We played well given the plan that Emery implemented. They had more of the ball as you’d expect but we were always a danger. They were expected to win but didn’t because we played well, very well.

So given our performances over the last 4 matches against them we are more than capable of getting a result. Unfortunately not in this seasons fa cup final 🤣

Yeah, I know what you mean, and I am not having a pop at the match thread - i get as emotional and irrational as anyone else on there - just making the point, I thought we played very well.

I never post on the match thread because I always seem to be watching a stream that is a minute behind.  However, I take the negative comments as fans who care passionately letting off some steam. It can be incredibly stressful watching us play and it is entirely forgivable that a few people are overcome. The thread should be a safe space for all that to spill out.

Match thread is just that , we are all kicking each ball and heading the ball away .
Anyone who goes in there retrospectively to dissect and make a point needs to have a word with themselves .
