I thought that the ref stepped early, but it was a great fight. Wardley was probably slightly behind on points at the time but he has a great punch as well as being able to take a punch.

Interest listening to Spencer Oliver on radio at lunchtime and he made a point about there not being a standing 8 count available anymore and that fight would have been the perfect one where the standing count would have been used

I'm not sure about that - if you cant defend yourself it should be stopped, but elsewhere someone said that boxers don't take a knee anymore. If Parker had done that and got himself a few seconds to recover and get off the ropes, things might have been very different.
