As Glasner pointed out, Palace have become a basket case , selling players on the eve of a match without any replacements, yet we just did the same thing.

Difference is that Glasner had fought tooth and nail with the board in the summer to keep him this season and then they sold him behind his back. And they probably did that because Glasner had told them he was leaving so they made the not unreasonable decision that losing 20m by keeping a player for a manager that was fucking off anyway wasn't the wisest business decision ever.

Palace put a price on Gueh and city matched it, Bournemouth had a similar situation with Samenyo who played a few das later.
We did not have to let Malen go without any back up. It’s amateurish.

It’s pretty self evident that it’s not helped us today. We had no useful attacking options on the bench. Against a side like Everton it’s entirely believable Malen comes on and helps us open up the game, it’s happened before against similar sides.

So the decision to sell him has definitely hindered us short-term. We’ll see longer-term, but it’s probably cost us something already.

The big question is why? no problem with selling Malen but not until we have a replacement.

A gamble we did not need to make and it didn’t come off.
Amateurs.
He scored for Roma.

It's rare a club waits. 1 because of the injury risk and 2 they want him themselves. That he won them the game today is the perfect example. Why on earth would Roma weaken themselves by waiting just to help us. If we had everything agreed with a player tomorrow I wouldn't expect us to wait another week and miss game/s for us so as he can play for them. And what if he did that and then did ACL in the game, I highly doubt many would be praising us for waiting.

We appear to be waiting for Abraham and seemed happy enough for him to play for Besiktas a few days ago.

What if he'd done his ACL against Keciorengucu?

Etc.

I nearly did my ACL trying to pronounce that team!

We really don’t do ourselves any favours with our transfer situations do we?

Everything was agreed in the Malen deal so he went. When everything is agreed in the Tammy deal he'll leave. Do you think if everything had already been agreed and we were ready to complete the deal that Tammy would be playing in Brum or Turkey?

If everything *hasn't* been agreed in the Abraham deal we should be delaying the sale of the player that he's replacing until it is. If it hasn't been agreed, what's the new plan if it *doesn't* get agreed?

If Roma want Malen (and it seems that they do), then in the meantime they use one of the three first team strikers they've got already, or the new one that they signed at the same time as Malen.

In much the same way as we're not clearly not going to move on from Abraham for the sake of a day or two of delay, there's no reason to think that Roma would either.

Indeed. The reality is we’ve left ourselves short for an important game and we lost - I don’t know whether Malen would have made the difference, but he definitely offered us something we were short of.

Or we could stop fannying around and get the Tammy deal done if we want him that much. Roma wanted Malen, they got the deal done and he's their player. We seem to want Tammy but the deal isn't done so he's not our player.

It seems pretty simple that a delay because a deal hasn't been agreed yet, and may never be, and wanting a delay in a deal that has been agreed by all parties are different things.

And there you go, so it’s poor transfer management on our side because it’s left us exposed.

As I keep saying, long term it may be that the sacrifice of 1 player v Everton was well worth it. Or come the end of the window it may look a staggeringly bizarre mess up. For some reason wanting to see what happens before getting worked up seems a hot take.
