Damian Vidagany

Manage your expectations but never manage your dreams. 7 players in the box pushing in the last minute. That is the message and mentality of Unai. Thanks for high voltage atmosphere. Building a culture together, you gave the guys wings! UTV!

Went to a book signing in Tamworth last night for the new Guillem Balagué book  "Rise of the Villans" . Didn't know before hand but Damian Vidagany and Francesco Calvo (new President of Business Operations ) were in attendance. Damian spoke really well about the Villa , Unai and the club's ambitions. I can't speak for the whole room , but I was hanging on his every word , he is a great speaker. I meet him briefly after and he was a gentleman , stopping for photographs and talking to any supporters who wanted a chat. I mentioned to Guillem how inspirational Damien's words were , when he signed my book , and he agreed that he is a great communicator . I could see in that brief interaction why he is such an important member of Unai's team.

I was there too! He was great.

Very interesting to hear problems within the group at the start of the season. He said didn’t blame anybody personally but presumably concerned Martinez!

Jon Collett was there as well, if Guillem Balague's X account is anything to go by.

Nice words to read Franky. Integral to the team and its reassuring that he comes across so well.

Can a DoF/ Head of Football ops or whatever Monchi was really have such an impact on the morale of the side.

Particularly with the control that Emery wields.

Hard to imagine the players being glad to see the back of Lange, for example.

the impression many of us have got from last January to the end of the window is that he wasn’t exactly Mr Diplomatic when it came to his dealings with players and their agents who were maybe being told they would maybe be sold as we had to cut out cloth accordingly in the summer.  It’s a fine balance to talk to agents/players about the clubs predicament without it sounding like they’re not wanted, I get the distinct impression this wasn’t handled at all well.

Damian Vidagany

6 tough matches after our 6 European matches…6 wins!!!  Today with a huge comeback like last 4 W away in EPL. Tough and well trained West Ham made it very difficult!

What a team we have!!! What group of players and coaches. What a manager we have!  Never excuses. No comfort zone. So so proud. Thanks for coming you guys to London and safe travels!!!

PD: Again. If anyone was thinking that this was an excuse go back, delete this idea and check our results.  But the fixtures people must bear in mind to fix KO times the factor to protect the health of the players of the European teams. 64 hours between matches. 64.

The article I read ages ago suggest they do this every year and Vidagany is the person that delivers this message as his role is Comms.  Was it different this year, or speculation?

You might be right.  Whatever happened, I think it is fair to say “the Plan” went array and the three were scrambling at the end of the window.  Monchi has taken the blame, with good grace, based on interviews after he left, so maybe he wasn’t that committed or knew he’d fucked up.
