Even then, there are some scenarios where Chelsea losing that game makes them more likely to qualify. Likewise, Brentford could go to Anfield on the last day knowing they need to lose.

Explain this to me?

See Pat Mustard post on page 303, it explains it perfectly.

If Villa win the Europa League and finish fifth, then sixth place gets a Champions League spot. No such spot becomes available if Villa finish in the top four and win the Europa League.

So, let's say by some miracle we actually do win the Europa League. On the last day of the season Brentford already know that they are going to finish sixth, and travel to Anfield knowing that the only way Liverpool can finish above Villa is if they win. Brentford would be better off losing.

People saying that CL spot is ours, need to think of last Saturday when we almost threw 2 points away.

As a counterpoint, those who say that we still need to be worried about it need to think of last Saturday when we beat Sunderland and extended our lead over sixth place.

Hopefully draw tomorrow, then. No letting Tottenham off the hook.

Win tomorrow and it's done.

But, but...Brighton can still get to 62 points.

It suits us to relegate Tottenham, they're a competitor.

We could win the next 3 games, more or less be guaranteed 3rd or 4th and relegate Spurs.

Getting everything lined up to give us the best chance beat Forest is far far far more important than Spurs going down or staying up.

Sides who finish 17th and sit 18th with 5 games to go are not our competitors.
