I haven't seen anyone say that.

Forest are the better team in every metric since Pereira took over, and they have a 1 goal head start. We've played them twice under him, not won, and scored 1 goal.

Bookies make them favourites to qualify.

Hardly a bizarre take that Villa fans might feel the same when looking at it objectively.

Theres accepting its going to be difficult and there is the insinuation in lots of posts today that we’ve basically got no chance.

58 points will quite possibly be enough for CL.

For one of Everton, Brighton, Bournemouth, or Brentford to overtake us is highly improbable, and that assumes we don't get a point from our last 3 games (I think we will get 4). City play 3 of them, and each has their own pressure to overcome.

As bad as it's been these last couple weeks, its what happens over 38 games and, we fully deserve to be in the drivers seat.

Would you bet against us?

Er…yes actually. I’ve gone all in on Forest to win and then us to lose at Burnley.

Forest remind me of Palace last season.

Well done you if it floats your boat to think that negatively about the team you support.

A week ago we matched them and were a brainfart away from a draw. On Thursday we're at home, under the lights, conditions where in the past eighteen months or so we've beaten Bayern Munich, PSG, Manchester City and Arsenal. They might be slight favourites to go through but the attitude in some quarters is unbelievable. That's what annoys me.

It's no exaggeration to say we have absolutely no chance Thursday, Burnley will school us, we'll finish 6th, Unai will leave, we'll get Lampard in, best players leave, we get relegated next season, owners leave, we go into administration, go down to div 3, as we don't own VP we get can't afford the rent with crowds of 5000, groundshare at Albion, club goes bust, AFC Villa of Aston start up in the Birmingham league. And all because Digne couldn't keep his hands down away to Forest.

And 2 weeks before that we ought to have put 3 or 4 on the board.

The attitude is the most abject defeatist from some. I hope they're nowhere near Villa Park on Thursday.

I wasn't fussed with the Fulham and Forest results as both were close games where we should have come back with draws minimum for both. But also we are going to be at home, a place we had scored 8 goals in two matches ourselves and appearing to be turning back into a fortress. Then we put on that show yesterday and I just fear we have lost any fear factor and a considerable backing of the crowd after that. Any early fuckups in play (not conceding a goal as such but bad passes giving chances away and coming out at a snails pace) will get the groans early. And the longer without scoring the more the crowd will be getting nervous which will go into the team.

So put me in the "unbelievable" quarter but the "unbelievable" capitulation from our team and worst, the manager is the reason I'm now in there.

Exactly this. 15 mins in and its not going our way, I can only imagine. F**k that. I know we ultimately didnt go through because of Donnarumma, but have people forgotten being 0-2 and 1-5 on aggregate down against PSG.
Nottingham Forest are in great form but they are no frigging PSG. Everyone in that ground needs to be 100% behind the team, not with one eye on a bet they’ve made that we’ll lose.

As someone said to me yesterday, "I haven't seen any team have such a defeatist attitude and such a bad run of results going into a big game since Villa in the 1994 League Cup final."

It’s why intent is so important - if we attack the game, the belief will come.

Well they might be as that attitude was from our players and management yesterday.

We created chances, yes, but didn't take them.

It might all click under the lights, it might not. Most metrics point to not, but it might be one of those special nights where a performance seems to come from nowhere. Everyone has their right to an opinion, I guess I just care less what other people think than others here do. Negativity only annoys me as much as 'I'm a better fan because I predict a win' attitude.

Like I said, I haven't seen anyone post that we might as well not turn up etc. Maybe I've missed them. I've seen people post that sarcastically to others who aren't as confident of a win as they might be.

I doubt people who think we'll go out will support the team any less than people who think we'll go through will, on the night. So I hope they do turn up and have the night of their lives.
