The only year I did fantasy football I had Ian Woan in my team. He did surprisingly well.

All-in-all not a bad weekend. Gain a point against 3rd and 6th losing 2 to 5th. This weekend is key, we need to be aiming to be gaining points on at least one of those clubs, possibly 2, maybe all 3.

Chelsea v ManU and Everton v Liverpool.

The period from 1998-2019 had an effect on me. Doug still looms.
I have flashbacks to the 80s.
Nothing to do with the mighty Villa, I just remember leg warmers, bandannas and mullets with spiral perms.

You were too classy for Hi-Tec, Lou.

If you watched American Football or Aussie Rules, mullets are very much en vogue.

Bit of nostalgia for you.

After watching Man Utd last night, I reckon we should be focused on finishing third and not worrying about Chelski and Liverpool.

Man Utd have a difficult run-in, suspension issues, injuries and are there for the taking.

Plus, they are shyte.

We should just do what we need to do and other teams around us can do what they do.

But - the way the fixtures at the end of the season fall, if we're safe in 5th or higher by the penultimate league game, I'd be turning all attention to the game we're hopefully playing in Turkey rather than going hell-for-leather against Liverpool and Man City.

I agree with Baldy.  3rd is achievable, we should aim for that.  Whilst it doesn't make any difference in terms of what we would or wouldn't qualify for, I think the difference in terms of players we can attract/retain would be significant.  4th place is possible to unbalance - you're only 1 spot off potentially not qualifying.  3rd is a different story - you begin to look more likely than not to qualify the next season as well.

I'd also be fully in favour of us winning the Europa League of course.  I'd be going after both - there's only a month left of the season, and we're generally pretty good at finishing strong under Emery.

We want draws in both of those games, becuase Everton and the clubs below them, including Sunderland, are starting to look bigger threats than Chelsea.

Extra £3m for finishing a place higher this season I think.

Let’s be brutally honest - from where we are now if Chelsea, Everton or any of the chasing clubs finish above us we don’t deserve it.

Yes, rather we had it than Man Utd.

I almost took it for granted Man Utd would end third and only looked behind us. But after last night, 3rd spot is a realistic aim even if we play a few of our second string in some of the remaining games.

Sat
Brentford v Fulham
ManU v Chelsea

Sun

Not including anyone that's currently 6 points or more from fifth.

We're in an absolutely brilliant position and really should get over the line from here. I have no doubt our rivals will continue to drop points. My only nagging fear is that we've won three in our last 12 in the league so "only" winning three from the last six doesn't look that straightforward in that context. The counterpoint to this is that including European matches presents a much rosier picture of our form. Overall I'm fairly relaxed we'll finish 5th but my impatience/fear means I want it to happen ASAP so we can focus on winning a trophy.
