We finished 4th last year without Mings.
Pau is a better around player.

We conceded 46 with Mings in the season Gerrard got sacked.
We conceded 61 with Pau in a full Emery season.

Our post-Gerrard form in 22/23 was as good as our form last season wasn’t it?

Edit: my mistake. It was better.

Now what?

I know what my solution is, but it always results in people telling me that Mings' right leg is a clumsily-attached broom handle with some toes drawn on the bottom in felt-tip.

We need to get back to basics which starts in defence , tighten it up again like we used to be . I'd be over the moon with a 0-0 tomorrow night. We concede way too many and have done for too long which means when attack doesn't work we are fucked
Would like the Konsa Mings CB pairing back

Just pick his 1st 11 available, no tinkering and trying stuff. We can match them (not saying we will get a decent result). Digne is he available?

And that’s why he had to pick the ball up rather than knocking it back to Emi with his right.

Just think though, the poor guy will have to live with that etched in to his Psychi for the rest of his life. I will forget about it tomorrow.

He averages one mistake every 2340 minutes. He’ll be fine.

I’m never very confident going to Anfield and today is no different
Whatever happens I hope we can put on a good performance to lift our spirits

I hate to say it but I think Anfield is the best ground in the Premier League now, and I say that as someone who hates them more than any other club

My top 3 would be
Anfield
Villa Park
Goodison

Bottom 3 would be
West Ham
Brighton
Leicester

(Yep I’m a old-fashioned traditionalist)

Based on recent form I give us pretty much no chance, but hopefully Unai has something up his sleeve.

Hope it’s better than what he had up his sleeve at Spurs.

Konsa Mings Torres Digne

If that's still shipping goals at an alarming rate then Cash Konsa Mings Digne, which has proven itself to not concede many goals before. The current iteration hasn't, no matter how silky the passes through the channels are.

I wouldn't hate a back 5, mind. With Torres as an old school libero. Takes Bailey out too.

Martinez

Cash
Konsa
Torres
Mings
Maatsen

Kamara
Tielemans

Rodgers
Ramsey

Watkins

Torres will obviously play as he was rested midweek but he clearly weakens us defensively , yes he can pass but he's a a 7 / 10 central defender . Onana will also return and he needs a big game , be good if he can refrain from getting booked early . Tielemans injured ? certainly played like he was Wednesday . Bailey 2.0 or Philogene or neither . Rogers needs to show some other dimensions to his game and if he gets any chances Watkins needs to be more accurate . UTV

I reckon it will be an improved performance and a tighter game than some are suggesting. I'd definatley be starting Onana and Kamara. The midfield has been nowhere near good enough of late.

It hasn’t and an underperforming midfield impacts the whole team, strikers get poorer service and the defence is more exposed. When the balance is right we’re a good team but it can all unravel when it’s not. Experience suggests Unai will figure it out.
