There will be a centre-back.

There will.

Of course there will.

Won't there?

We would laugh at someone like West Ham if they were leaking goals at an alarming rate and decided that likes of Asensio and Rashford were the answer. Only a couple of weeks after signing Malen too.

Of course it could work, even in the short term like Coutinho did, but these signings are so out of character with everything Emery has done at the club so far, that I'm worried for the first time in his reign.

Think you could argue we might need two really, depending on the severity of the injuries to Torres and Mings.

It’s going to be one, Mings should be back soon and Torres must be 3/4 weeks.

If we do end up with Malen, Rashford, Asensio and Felix  when we are leaking goals it will be equivalent of O’Neill signing a full set of back four when our problem was scoring goals.

That's my view too.

Ha ha

*buy entire back four*
*spend season ignoring most of them*
*buy another entire back four*

Torres is April I think. So quite a way yet. Whoever it is we'll need to buy them outright. Bade turning us down seems to have really screwed up our plans.

It’s March isn’t it? I thought it was around two months.

It was 8 weeks initially but it would all depend on the seriousness of it. Whether that is match fit time or time to be back in training is also up in the air.

We’ve played 24 games in the league. Two of our attacking midfielders (Ramsey and Bailey) have one goal a piece. I’m not surprised we’ve been looking at options because whatever mitigating factors there are that is not good enough for where we want to be.

It’s obvious we don’t prioritise clean sheets. We kept about seven in the league last season. We DO back ourselves to dominate possession create chances and score more goals than the opposition.

That’s simply not going to happen if only one of our three attacking midfielders (Rogers) is in any sort of form. It makes us far too easy to stop.

I’d like a defender too. But trying to ease the burden on Rogers and Watkins is equally important. We’ve ran both of them into the ground.

Duran is a big loss (7 league goals) we’d be crazier than he is to not try and replace that big a contribution. He has scored 20% of our goals in the league.

🚨🧨 Marcus Rashford is due to have a medical at Aston Villa today —  buy option is £40m, with Villa paying 70% of his wages.

It really shouldn’t have though. Didn’t UE say himself that we have a list of players that we want for each position and work down it. Think Felix has messed up the plans as Disasi was a back up to Bade but then that stalled because of wanting him.
