Yeah but I think it’s probably a bit simplistic to think of it in those terms. I still think the midfield is the primary issue in terms of exposing the defence. Maybe I’m wrong and maybe Konsa and Mings might mitigate that a bit, but you’d lose much more in the round by not having Pau in the side.

Or to put it into practice, we almost certainly don't concede that Jimenez goal against Fulham. But we definitely don't score the winner against Bayern.

I wouldn't undestimate the Bailey problem and the wider effect it's having on the team.

We haven't got a right side attack at all at present.

Id like to see how pau and konsa do when they have kamara starting in front of them.

They suffered badly when he got injured

Yes, but if it were Konsa/Pau v Bayern, it almost certainly would have been a consolation goal, seeing as they hardly ever keep a clean sheet.

You could always look up what they were like before he got injured. It was more than half a season.

Yes but the teams obviously different to last seasons so that would be pretty pointless

Don't worry, I'm a fully paid-up cheerleader for team Konsa-at-right-back.

Aside from Rogers/Diaby, what’s the difference? We are talking about the defence.

I do think are build up play is different this season - cedeing a little more position and going directly a little more often.

At times, like sunday, this is inviting pressure

But Pau & Konsa played half a season with Kamara, and half a season without. Carlos/Pau with Konsa at RB were better than Konsa/Pau with Cash at RB before Kamara got injured, and after Kamara got injured. Can’t you remember?

At times, like sunday, this is inviting pressure

Was it any different in setup really to when we beat Spurs 2-0 away early in Emery's tenure? Sat in first half and hit them on counter in second from memory. We were in a great position at half time on Sunday. Hold on another 10 minutes even and their crowd will turn. Even at 1-1, their players should be fatiguing the longer the game goes on, ours had the cup game off. Instead we crumbled, injuries played a big part, the defence inexplicably collapsed and Emery made some really poor tactical changes.

I think we are lacking a bit of goal threat in midfield these days than when we were at our best under Emery. Bailey and McGinn havent a goal between them in the league yet. Nor has Ramsey or Tielemans. No issue with Tielemans play making skills but he doesnt have Luiz dynamism around the opposition box. Buendia scored that day in Spurs, got another key one at Everton from memory during than run but looked miles off it v Palace unfortunately. I was hoping he would be a very good sub for us this season compared to likes of Zaniolo even but no evidence so far. We have been too reliant on Watkins, Duran and Rogers.
