I want this night to go on, and on.

Me too! I’ve just got in and will watch it again before work at 2am. Should be a few Villa podcasts ready to pass the time at work then I’ll probably watch it again in the morning.

Looking forward to seeing the gaffer, who said this morning as I left that “I’ll see you at 2, probably with your tail between your legs”.

And the depot manager, last seen moaning about Carlos, and Konsa at right back.

Both Villa fans to be fair.

Very few individual results/games are genuinely meaningful and something you can look back on for years to come, but this is one of those results. The quality of the goal helps as an exclamation point for the memory, but regardless of what happens in this year’s Champions League or the years to come this just has emotional weight to it. It’s huge and is important in the history of the club. It’s also put a full stop on a longstanding record for them too.

What a night!  The last couple of seasons have thrown up some great games at Villa Park, but that probably tops the lot.

As a game, probably not too dissimilar to our only other meeting with them!

We were singing to them outside the away end:

“It’s happened again
It’s happened again
Bayern Munich
It’s happened again”

They were very smiley and not overly bothered.

What a game. Aston Villa, to a man, absolutely brilliant.

Bailey doesn’t look fit to me. He’s a brilliant player, and he normally works hard defensively, but he looks short of a gallop at the moment. He’ll be back and brilliant.

I honestly think he is missing Diaby. They were obviously great mates coming from Leverkusen and now he has left, he seems to have gone back to the seasons before form.

I think tonight is about much more than the 3 points we put on the board, it's about the fact that we went up against a brilliant team, one which is a machine which eats up trophies, one for which playing these CL matches has been second nature for decades, and we looked like we belonged there - that alone would have been enough for us. Looking like we are not out of place there, looking like we belong.

The fact we beat them, too, is a bonus.

We are where we belong.

I think that is a bit of a leap, and if he's struggling because a mate has left then he's going to be in trouble.

I thought Torres was outstanding tonight. So composed on the ball. Especially early on when so many struggled. Shout out to Konsa and Carlos, monumental improvement from Sunday in their performances. Huge credit to Emery's man management skills too, Philogene starting tonight was a huge decision after Sunday and incredible show of faith in a young player. Getting Duran back on track some achievement too. Also didn't bottle the hard but correct decision with Bailey.
Completely agree with all of this. I said to some friends on the concourse at half time, Torres looks like he belongs in this company.
The only thing I would say is before the game Bailey was training on his own, I genuinely think he’s carrying an injury.

Incredible night, quite emotional. This man Emery is transformational for Aston Villa. Im 50 and Ive never seen football management like this.

What a night!

Bailey had the most strapping ive ever seen on his thigh i’ve ever seen on a footballer. Clearly injured.
