Wanted to apologise for my rather negative post on the match thread. I gave up listening after the second Everton goal went in. Have been a mardy sod on here for a while.

Considering it was a match thread and we were losing, I doubt anyone even noticed.

I had a look back and looks like my post didnt post afterall. I take back my apology then!

I keep hearing the media talking about how we started the season well last year but in our first 3 games we got hammered at Newcastle and Liverpool.

Once West Ham away and Arsenal at home were out of the way, we needed to get as many points from the next 4 as we could before the runs of tougher fixtures start.

Just watching ref watch on Sky Sports. They agreed that both Everton goals were given correctly. However I used freeze frame and for their first and McNeil definitely takes Onanas left leg away causing him to fall. As for their second goal they showed a screenshot which has a green line showing DCL to be onside but that screenshot doesn't show the free kick actually being taken so how can they be certain? It was just brushed aside with a cursory comment but in my view they did not clear it up at all.

For the offside, the cameras are all time coded and synced so they stop on the kick being taken, then look at the same frames from the other cameras to get the best view for the offside check. Yes, there is always the "how can they tell when it left his foot", but not having them both in the same frame is certainly not a reason to suspect it is wrong when the lines are shown, and Tielemans was at least a foot ahead.

As for the first, the argument could be that Onana lost control of the ball first, then the contact was made you mentioned. I don't think it was a clear and obvious error. If the ball had stayed in front of Amadou, then he was tripped like that, I think on field it would have been a foul by the ref. But it is going away and Onana is already falling.

We are going to come unstuck unless we start tightening up at the back. Two league clean sheets since the end of Jan and we’ve conceded two goals or more in 9 of our last 11 home league games, which is pretty poor.

Kamara will make a difference but the issues are partly masked by how free scoring we have generally been up to now.

I get why people are saying this but given how good we are going forward I don't think it's so much that we risk coming unstuck it's that we're top 6 as it stands and if we can find a way to get the defence working we'll be challenging for the top 3, maybe even the title.

We don't want to turn into Kevin Keegan's Newcastle. Tightening up that defence is a priority. Mings Kamara and Cash coming back should help and i think Torres makes way at the back
