I’ve watched the goal about a hundred times so far and I swear you can hear Emery shout ‘don’t shoot’ just before he smashes it in.
I thought What a waste! … until it hit the back of the net!

For all his genius, I wish Emery and his staff would get this defence sorted.

For people who watched on the box, was DCL offside when he ran through and we all seemed to stop, he fucked it anyway and ended up with a corner. We were sure the flag was going to go up but it didn't.

And did he foul/trip Pau when he went through later?

He was possibly offside, and it was a great defensive jab at the ball, not a miss.

VAR should have checked because Everton got the advantage with the corner.

If VAR checked for possible offsides before corners, games could last days.

It’s odd but even when they were 2-0 up I knew we would win

And Barkley was fantastic when he came on. Kept the ball and distributed it really well.
He was classy as fuck. Will be a real calming energy in moments like this

It was very tight for the offside and no. Pau went down far too easily

I was a big critic of Carlos but we seem as weak now as when he was playing at the end of last season. DCL bullying Torres is worrying, where was Onana for that set piece they scored from?

Result aside, that was not nearly good enough.

I’m going to sound a bit mad now, but I feel like people have under-estimated Everton, I watched their game last week and they were so good for 87 minutes. I’d made up my mind to bet on them on my way home from work this morning but I was too busy in the end. Glad I didn’t obviously, but I did have a bad feeling.

I think they’ll be fine this season if they can get their mentality sorted out.

Calvert Lewin had Torres on toast all night long for me. Completely dominated him.

Torres is wonderful footballer but can be got at by physical types.

Exceptional on the ball but defensively not great at times

He gets got at by all sorts, which is the worrying bit. It's a quandary. He's so important to the way we play, and on the ball he's 9/10 in most games. Defensively though, he's more like 5/10 far too often.

Name a better struck shot than Duran’s goal. Don’t say Savo, Jhon’s is better.

Only better struck shot I've ever seen at VP was that Paul Scholes goal against us.

That Paul Scholes goal is the only goal against the Villa that I've applauded!
