I've stopped caring about this match since news of Gary's death. Maybe I'll feel different tomorrow but it all seems hollow, none of our players care about or will contribute to the Villa as much as Gary Shaw did.

I’m sure the players have had plenty of previous practice.

As much as there will be a shadow over this game due to the events of the last 24 hours - we're lucky that we have a new group of players creating dreams for another generation of fans.

Neither of my children are interested in football, despite my best efforts (maybe something in the East Anglian water - probably bad parenting) - but what this group of players are doing is the kind of thing that inspires a whole new generation of fans to dedicate there life to following the Villa.

We're writing a new chapter in our famous clubs history - one I never thought I would see.

Same here . Thinking back to those days versus the game now . It's like a different sport altogether ruined by money.

There’s a great clip doing the rounds of Ian Taylor leading the singing of the Gary Shaw song in a pub over there.

Any suggestions for somewhere to watch the game near Waterloo?
I'll Abba think about that.

Anyway moving back on subject- good news that baileys back. Those pitches do cause injuries so i would sceptical playing him the whole game. Maybe a place on the bench and have JP starting

Studies like this one suggest otherwise - https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(23)00133-5/fulltext.

Ive played football on grass and astro. Without question as a defender you are more likely to pick up a injury. Sliding on astro is awful and fucking painful

That's not supported by actual empirical study though, and, no disrespect intended, the pitches (grass or otherwise) that'll you'll have played on are not going to be the same as those found at stadiums hosting Champions League football.

I played at spurs a while back (admittedly was years ago) but man i wouldnt want to play defence on there personally

Hopefully we dont suffer any injuries on there though 👍

Tottenham have two different pitches. They don't play (association) football on AstroTurf, it'a just for NFL matches. That surface is nothing like the modern artifical pitches that will be used in the Champions League.

On the plane! I do like them white tops (except for the badge). Makes em look ready for clandestine snow ops to snatch the points from a Hydra fortress;

£100 for one of them hoodies.

My GF offered to get me one on Sunday in the Villa store as she loved them but I hated the badge and said no thanks.

It’s such a weird time to be a villa fan. So many things going on and emotions flying about.  Bit like being a teenager again.

Even the kick off time is weird.

I’m sure Unai will have the team focussed and ready to go.

Like many of us, I am really down because of the Gary Shaw loss.
There is most definitely a shadow over the game and the occasion for me.

We have lost a member of our family.

Currently at Heathrow waiting for flight to Zurich. Not really slept a wink as some arsehole breakdown guy was outside the house trying to wrangle a Range Rover onto the back of his wagon, while putting the world to rights at the top of his voice.
If you see a Villa fan asleep in the crowd later, it’s probably me! UTV 😴

Win it for Gary Shaw!
