I think him and Peter Withe were the only players to play for us, them and Wolves. He was a character.

Met him a couple of times in the Holte Suite. He was an absolute gent. Such a shame.

One of my neighbours is the brother of Alan Deakin who as I’m sure you know played for the Villa through the 60’s, he would vouch for Bobby being a great player and most definitely a character Dave, Alan would go drinking with him and it usually got messy.
RIP Bobby

They were. But Doug Ellis was the only director for all three.

When I was little (late 90s) used to go to Penns Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield to go swimming while my parents went to the gym. In those times there were plenty of 80s Villa legends who would be in gym/bar. Likes of Tony Morley, Gary Shaw, Brian Little and once saw Andy Gray. Bobby Thomson was also around the bar area a few times.

I think he was playing for the Villa Old stars into his early 60s. They used to play charity games at Coles Lane in Sutton.

I was randomly reminiscing those days to my Dad on Sunday and he asked my if Bobby Thomson was still alive. Had no idea, checked Wiki and he still was. Dad said "fair play" when I replied he was still going at 87.

Few days later and I read he's passed on here. Funny old game. R.I.P.

One of my older brother's great Villa heroes, along with Gerry Hitchens and Nigel Sims.

I never saw you play Bobby, but I knew all about you from my big brother.

RIP Bobby.

Top player, as hard as nails, I remember him scoring a hat trick in our 8-3 win over Leicester in 1962, Gordon Banks was in goal.

RIP Bobby

I saw him score a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Huddersfield who had Dennis Law in their team, in early 1960. Unfortunately, I have no recollection of the goals now, but I do know my dad took me.
RIP Bobby.
