Then I saw that ****** Wilder having it large after the first goal, and that was that, I don't want that twat in the top flight again.

If Brexit was a football manager it would look, sound and smell like Chris Wilder.

Excellent summation.

It’s exactly what I think when I see him.

I'm happy with the play offs, but changing sports, what is absolutely ridiculous, is the winners of the Rugby Premiership, go into the play offs, to decide the title.

It’s ridiculous that some teams can be bankrolled at massive losses by a sugar daddy whilst other run at near break even.

Why was goal average fairer?

Because a side which has scored 6 goals and conceded 2 has clearly performed better than a side which has scored 19 and conceded 15 and that’s just one example.

I'm not getting that, at all, sorry.

Try asking Dinas_Caerdydd which he thinks is better.

On the last day of the 1923/24 season, Cardiff needed a win – but a 0-0 draw, coupled with victory for nearest rivals Huddersfield, meant they lost out by 0.024 of a goal.
If you settled it on goal difference, as they would now, they would have both been on +27, and Cardiff would have won it on goals scored: 61 goals to Huddersfield’s 60.

Was reading the other day that Oldham nearly won the league in 1914/15. Missed out by a point after only taking a point (against us) from their final three games. Lost their final two matches, both at home. Final one was against Liverpool which handed the title to... Everton.

The Argentinian league just make it up as they go along. If someone they don't want relegated could be relegated they just change the rules. Again.

30 team top flight now I think and relegation based on points average over 3 seasons.

But River Plate did get relegated, looks like the average points system was used well before  their relegation in 2011. They must have been terrible that a rule to prevent the biggest clubs in the country going down still couldn’t save them.

Yeah, they went down even despite the entire basis of the league being that clubs like them didn't go down.

I've still always preferred them to Boca, though. Can't stand anyone that calls themselves "The People's Club" or such nonsense. You're not socialists, you're rich footballers. Shut up. See also those Barcelona scabs that couldn't wait to sell out to the Super League.

Always preferred River Plate as well, they’ve had some great players over the years and I love a sash on a football shirt. Although Boca have been no slouches on the player front and have an iconic shirt as well.

River Plate for me too. River Plate had JPA and Di Stefano. Boca had Tevez and Maradona.

Prefer River to Boca, but obviously mainly like Nueva Chicago and our new friends Ferro Carril Oeste.

I’m in London for my daughters 18th and have bumped into loads of Sunderland fans and all seem sound and like us and almost without exception hate the noses.

Sunderland fans I've met have always been decent. They don't have the bizarre expectation that everyone should worship the ground they walk on that their crybaby neighbours have.

I’ve just seen the Real Madrid penalty award.  And they say referees aren’t biased.

It’s true I said to them how fcuking horrendous it must be living next door to that shower.
