Belgian League seems decent for throwing up new/unpredictable champions. Will be six different champions in eleven years if they manage it.

Yeah, literally inexplicable. I can't be too unhappy given the outcome, but it is mad.

Some people want to keep VAR to correct obvious errors; other people want it gone because it interrupts the flow of the game. Bravo us for having managed to abolish the decisions while keeping the injustices, bra fucking vo.

I was surprised that Atwell wasn't the person to make the decision on the ball path though. Afterall he missed the handball in the first place so he had made a clear and obvious error and as the red was a subjective decision, it was up to him and not VAR to say yes or no.

By definition, if he missed the handball then there was no consequential red card decision for him to make. Once VAR has spotted the handball, the red card decision should automatically follow. It's inexplicable that it didn't.

It's the pandora's box it opens - so as long as it isn't seen, keepers can now handle the ball outside the box - as long as the ball isn't travelling towards the goal?? VAR is tying itself in knots again.

The ball was travelling towards goal until Henderson punched it away.

Handball by the keeper is not an absolute instant red card, it is a subjective decision based on other factors for denying a goal scoring opportunity. There has been other occasions when a VAR have sent the ref to review a DOGSO for a defender even when the foul has been called. One was the other month when the DOGSO was on the halfway line because VAR showed the ref the keeper was well out of area so a good chance for a goal. However that was called a foul initially.

There is  good chance that this decision fell foul to VARs area of input as they can't call on fouls outside the box or yellow card decisions. But I still would have thought he should have gone to the screen as he missed the offence entirely so couldn't then make a DOGSO decision without review.

The ball was travelling towards goal until Henderson punched it away.

How is travelling from the left of the pitch towards the right going towards goal? Henderson definitely helped it on it's way but the ball was not heading towards goal before he touched it. I pointed out even your own screenshot you used shows Haaland was going for the ball with his left foot and his whole body is facing towards the corner flag.

His control might have made it a DOGSO, but I still think that people have it in their mind it was the centre of the box or Haaland was runnign directly at goal when it wasn't (the person who stated it was in the D earlier for example).

His touch still wouldn't have taken it anywhere near as wide as Henderson padding it away did. For me, it's definitely one of the most baffling VAR decisions I have seen.

No it wouldn't but he first touch also wasn't likely towards the goal and Henderson / defenders could be covering. Subjectively though, the ref who missed the initial handball, should have been asked to review it to see if a red card should be given which is the only action VAR could have interfered for on a clear and obvious error. But if the ref reviewed it and decided it wasn't a DOGSO, then the ball would have been given to Palace to play on with as he couldn't give the handball freekick.

Anyway, the audio will be really interesting to listen back to when they release it.

If Union Saint-Gilloise win their last match, or match what Brugge do, they'll win their first title since 1935.

Aren’t the owned by Brighton?

The Brighton owner had a stake but I think they had to do something with the ownership similar to what we did with Guimares due to the co ownership rules in Europe.

Did I see the Forest owner had to do that with one of his other clubs because they were both going to be in the CL next season......

To be fair, I think there was a deadline to do it by, and they were looking nailed on at that point.
