Ta. It seems like it just undermines Stockport County more than Man City, to me. And stealing "bantz" from Man U fans can never be a good thing. Still, at least it's not as bad as "Spuds" or "Barcodes".

I  and I have the utmost respect for the original Stockport but it is indeed where they garnered much of their support from.
Sorry this is not true.
The reason they, Manu fans use Stockport as a derogatory term is as much to do with Geography as anything else. It’s just a put down in the same way Small Heath bang on about being real Brummies. Dont know why anyone wants to give credence to Manure fan logic.

I've never heard a Newton Heath fan say it and wouldn't use it myself if I had.

I was disputing your comment -where they garner much of their support.
Which is incorrect.

I don't see how either of you can know that for sure, but I can tell you from my own experiences through work up there that much like in our city, the poorer neighbours vastly over play their numbers and as nearly everyone seems to be Man Utd.

I lived there, and what you say is true. Manu have lots more fans than Citeh including in Stockport, which makes calling Citeh Stockport a bit silly.

See also:
Woolwich
Small Heath
Newton Heath
Sangwell Town
Wolfs
Etc etc

It's just jokes. Whatever that means.
Sangwell is far too complimentary for knuckle draggers.

Working around the north west I noticed weird dynamics like Man City having a much stronger supporter base in Blackburn than Man Utd. There’s loads of Man City in Blackburn! In Wigan, there’s loads of Man Utd, & I barely met a City fan.
Up here in Morecambe, there’s a completely disproportionate number of Everton fans for some reason. Loads of them!

Er, I have made this point before but childish and trivial nicknames don't really stand up to any kind of rigorous analysis, nor are they meant to.

Tuning into the Tamworth game right from the beginning of the coverage in the hope of Coops spotting! Although I think he might still be in the pub!

I've had a fancy that this game might be the big upset, tempered somewhat by the fact that it's on ITV.

Looking forward to seeing ex-Yeltz and one third of the famous "Tipton 3" lugging them in from distance
