Nice to see PL helping us in CL weeks by scheduling us mostly away from home those weeks.

Before or after CL game?

Before.

Not true. We have 4 home and 4 away games. Before and after all CL group games.

The bastards.

They couldn't be bothered to schedule them, that's how much they hate us.

When was our last opening day home game? It can't be 2-2 v Bolton, all goals scored before the H&V sellers had taken their seats.

Nobody can tell me the fixtures aren't a stitch-up. Away at Old Trafford on the last day? Come on, imagine the execs at Sky wanking themselves silly over a final day crunch match between a team nobody cares about and a team that's nowhere near as good as they used to be. They've done us again.

I remember that we got pasted 5-0 at the arse and they were then opening their shit stadium the following season so they somehow contrived to get Villa at home for their first ever League match. Some Arse cack-faced twit must have influenced that. One Melberg header later - ha!

I wasn't being serious.

2020 v Sheff Utd, think its forgotten about as it was during covid times and the season began in September.

Last time we played our first game at home was in 2020, a one-nil win over Sheffield United courtesy of Ezri Konsa, with Emi Martinez saving a penalty on debut. However, it wasn't actually the scheduled opening day game. That was a trip to Manchester City which was postponed to give them more time to recover from their European exertions in the previous season which didn't finish until late July due to Covid interruption.

Last time we were actually drawn to play at home first game, and also the last home opener in front of a crowd, was a 1-1 draw with Hull City in 2017 featuring one of Agbonlahor's final goals.

Last opening weekend top flight game at Villa Park was a three-nil win against West Ham in 2010, a few days after the O'Neill flounce, with goals from Downing and Petrov. Milner completed the scoring before signing for Man City the following week. And pretty much a decade of shit began.

According to that United supporting Cockney twat on talksport they have been drawn at home for the opening game of the season for the last nine years.

Although this was thew scheduled 2nd game.  The first game that season was Man City away but had to be rearranged because of the super cup I think.  Last PL home game on MW1 was West Ham in 2010 I think.  Milner's last game.

Not "Premier League" but seemed as good a place as any, without starting a new "Other Games" thread too early.

All Football League fixtures to be spread across the opening weekend and televised. No Championship or League One games on the opening Saturday at 3pm, just League Two games.
