I think he's thrived in a kind of 'Grealish with us' role where he's free to be the fulcrum of that rabble and he's thriving with the responsibility much like the greasy one did.

He wouldn't maybe get that chance in a better organised team. He is a bloody good player though.
Yes , Citeh had to choose between Phil the Chav Foden or him. Chavy looks good in a great team whereas Palmer looks brilliant in that rabble.

If I had to choose, I'd take Palmer over Foden.

Those of A Certain Age would come out in a cold sweat if we were linked to Palmer.

I didnt realise Palmer was Lionel  Messi  all of a sudden.

He is an exceptional player and without him they are very ordinary.
He was the best player on the pitch when we played them in the cup.

He is a very good player.  But in that squad he's surrounded by good players, and for whatever reason, they haven't clicked as a team (bar the odd game like our cup replay).  What we need is the sort of disjointed performance they've been putting in all season, and not the sort they delivered on their last visit to VP.  I do think Unai will be using the cup replay very heavily this week to motivate the players (not that they should need extra motivation at this stage of the season).

If we get the first one, it could be a very good evening for us. Despite Arsenal's hammering, they're still only 6 points from a European spot, with a very reasonable run-in, so that will be their own motivation.

If we play our best, we'll win, of that I'm sure.

Foden is the better player, I'm convinced of that.  He's performing brilliantly for City this season, but he's not getting the standout performances you're seeing from Palmer for precisely the same reason Grealish looks ordinary at Man City - their style doesn't suit flair players.  It never has.  If Foden was at any other top-6 team, I bet he'd be up there with Bellingham in terms of global recognition. He has double figures for goals and assists, and is only 2 goals behind Ollie in all competitions, despite not playing as a forward. City are extremely lucky to have him.  If he hadn't come through their academy, city would be spending £100m to buy him, I'm certain of it.

Foden's a couple of years older than Palmer, which probably makes a difference.

I doubt Man City wanted him to go but a mix of Palmer wanting to leave for game time and the PSR of selling a youth player for that much is why he went.

I like to think he wanted to leave because he thought Pep was an overbearing twat, on the basis of no evidence whatsoever.

There’s plenty of evidence without having to look too hard
