Konsa really isn’t a very good right bsck.

I would much rather ser Hayden there and Konsa put back in his best position

At this point im thinking so too. Carlos is such a liability and fod me him and pau at cb  dont compliment each other very well.

Id look to ship carlos out in summer tbh and get someone else in

I agree.

Carlos is generally frightening, and seems to have a similar effect on the rest of the defence as when they see Olsen behind them.

SCORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCHIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Blimey, even Sky were later than you.  Great work Mr Shin,

On that Soccer Saturday thing, Sky are always about a minute or two behind.

I reckon Mr Shin sits on top of the goalposts.

Konsa really doesn’t offer much as a full back. Rogers can be pleased with his performance so far but, as a team, Villa really need to up their game. Even if we take a 1 goal lead to Lille, I doubt it’ll be enough.

I think attacking wise Villa are far too strong and powerful and with Martinez in defence ,who is world class, makes all the difference between these two teams.

It will be a different kettle of fish in france. If we play like this i think they will beat us comfortably

We need to step up a gear

We will low block over there just like we did in Amsterdam.

Really good first 20 minutes but after that we've rode our luck and needed Emi heroics not to concede.

They are a good side though, miles better than Ajax so I'm not too surprised. Like the look of the Icelandic kid in the number 10 position.

If we can scramble another goal off a set piece and then actually manage things properly from 2-0 up then that would be a brilliant advantage to take to France.

One goal lead or us not winning tonight and it's going to be a major struggle.

Would you take 1-0 FT?

The one thing I don't understand is since his suspension why McGinn has been moved back to the 10 role.  Tielemans is much better in that role and McGinn should be sitting in with Dougie.

Think Bailey has cooled over the last month aswell. He's still getting into decent areas but the end product is lacking currently.

Diaby in better form and he'd be up for it playing a French team so don't think it will be too long in the second half before he's on unless the intention is to limit his minutes tonight and start him at Arsenal instead.

I think we're playing this on purpose just so as Emi can troll the French more

It's close game.  We've had a few good chances, they've had even better ones and Martinez is showing yet again why he's one of the very best, especially in these one on ones.

But, most of us thought it'd be a close game and there won't be any more 'easy' games in this competition now. If we can take a coupe of goals lead into the 2nd leg you'd have to say it was a big result.  Rogers looks like his ceiling of potential could be sky high to me.  A super star in the making maybe.  He'll make mistakes, but he looks potentially like the real deal.

Bailey off the boil and doesn't seem to back himself to get past his man now teams are double marking him.

We could win this 3 or 4 nil if we were a bit more careful in possession. Every attack promising until it breaks down with a careless pass.

I'll forecast it now as people seem to see it very differently, but Watkins will score at least one more tonight and Villa will get two or three in the 2nd half
I know what I can see on footy observations , players on the field and to come on . I only see a Villa victory. Mark my words.
Come on Villa!
Enjoy the second half !
